Preparing for new engine, guys help me out.

I am getting a 3mm street ported engien from RX-7 Specialties after I popped mine. What else should I consider when I haev the engine out.

I was thinking of flywheel, but figure I will already be spinning through 1st, so what is the point, or am I wrong?

I will wait to see if my engine mounts are shot, and while I have the engine out I plan to clean eveything really well with pressure washer, etc. I ordered the full gasket set with the engine so I will have everything I need. I plan to drop the tranny while removing it.

So, and last suggestions as to what I should check, do, etc with engine an dtranny out?

Thanks guys.

You lucky bastard I wish I had a new motor Did you plan on going single ?? Cuz thats a perfect time to slap on a nice T-78 If you have a custom paint job and didn't paint the engine bay....thats a perfect time to paint........

Clean and polish everything.
I've heard nothing but good things about lighter flywheels, but can't tell you for sure until I get my engine back in with a 9.5lb M2 one.
One of your mounts will be broken, the other will be fine. I can see the future! hehe
flush water system, oil system, tranny fluid, put in redline instead.
Clutch?
Do the throttle body coolent bypass mod
Remove AC and power steering (hehe well if you are hardcore :-) )
Have them rib your water jacket on the combustion side.

it would be very easy to switch to non seq which in turn would be easy to convert to single down the road. If thats what you want to do. Check you clutch, you could change it labor free. It sounds like everything has pretty much been said.

On a side note is this what was wrong with your car the whole time? Shoot me a email SJWhite2000@aol.com I wanted to ask you something about that time your 02 was sending weird numbers.

I hate that your motor let go, it seems to be the way of the rotory no matter how careful people are.

Thanks,
STEPHEN

Hey Guys,

well I have a act SS clutch already and it has only about 3k miles on it. as a side not at the time they told me my engine was very strong, lol. what do they know right!

I thought of going single, but that makes another huge dent in cash flow it will have to wait for another day. I plan to keep the twins sequential for now, but many are telling me that it is better to run 15lbs when they are non-seq.

SPOautos, I have no bloody clue what the hell happened, my gut is that I got stung by the low rpm high boost problem with timmng to advanced in the PFC base maps, and got detonation. I know I detonated a few times for sure. I will give you the low down in an email. I think my engine was weak compression to begin with and I pushed it over the edge. Maybe explains why I coudl never get good boost in low gears.

RX-7 specialties is in Calgary Alberta. They had the best prices and didn't try to sell me on **** I didn't need. All the canadian guys know about them, I think they are the preimer rotory guys in Canada. Exchangw rate is great now too, and that doesn't hurt.

Needless to say, I am really excited to get it back together adn fele the power of a properly running ported engine. May be the best 2.5k I ever spend
