My Dad took my R1 to the dyno yesterday with mixed results. Initially I was disappointed, but as I looked at the big picture I realized there is still a lot of potential there.
Corrected SAE rwhp 376
Corrected SAE rwt 303
This was with a peak boost on the commander of 1.07 kg/cm^2 (~15.2 psi); not sure about inj duty. I'm going to have my dad email me the dyno chart to get all the info. The ambient temps were 94 degrees, intake air temps in the mid 50s, and the damn place didn't even put a fan in front of the car. My good friend Nick has dynoed at this place a few times and always seemed to make lower numbers than expected, so I am definitely going to try another shop. I've surmised that all of the above deflated the numbers a decent amount, corrected numbers or not.
My dad was the one in the driver's seat during the dyno runs (there were only 2, basically identical) and he said that 4th gear seemed to take quite a bit longer to wind out then when he and steve were on the highway and making repeated runs for tuning---he checked the profec b because he honestly thought it was on low boost.
I feel that given better circumstances and 17 psi, the car should make right around 400 to the ground as advertised. It's odd, b/c it made 368 at KDR about a year and a half ago on the stockers, and she feels much, much stronger now---like a different car with over 100 horsepower more, really. Of course, that dyno was also in January in Pennsylvania.
Next step is to get a 3 bar map sensor and have Steve fine tune her some more, along with some minor airflow enhancements like intake hard pipes and double throttle deletion. This will all of course come after I come home from my little vacation
.
take it easy guys--

it's not a car, it's a life
even when you are in Iraq!
just kiddin, Rich....keep us posted
after talking with some other people, I think the KKK or GT40 single is the way to go
how is the lag compared to the stockers or a small single?

That's what I'm getting on my stocks. Do you think it's worth it to upgrade to these turbos? What advantage do these have over the stocks? Last longer maybe? I'm getting those numbers on stock turbos and non ported motor. I know when I rode in Stephen's car, it felt like a monster, but my car was weak back then.
WE MUST RACE!!!!!!!!!!!
for the first round on the dyno you are doing fine...youll break four hundred with some minor tweaking Im sure.
so...get that kicking *** for america self home and lets hit the streets!

Actually, the next time you're on the highway, have a bud with a stopwatch handy and time yourself from 40 mph in 2nd gear to the verrrrry top of 4th, 140 mph. If you can beat my time on stock turbos and stock motor, I'll buy you a case of beer.
Btw, do you have a dyno sheet, drag times, etc?

. After all the hype, I was expecting more, but 94 degrees and no air into the intake prolly shot me in the foot.I'll have to see the dyno sheet, but high 10s, low 11s, some in the high 11s.

Oh, I'm going to kick some *** alright.....yours, blasting up highway 35 from Austin to Fort Worth
.Yeah, I think given better condition, 1 or 2 psi more boost, and Steve tweaking her, 400 is easily reachable. Dynoing in June/July ain't too smart anyway.....

.Edit: Yeah, I think the ported motor is a bit of a necessity to crack the 400 barrier (JD's 7 notwithstanding
).

Didn't you do that 368 rwhp with a Hi Flow Cat too???
I'm a bit suprised as well you didn't dyno more but I've had some inconsistent readings too before.
My best was 357 w/ stockers at 14.2psi with a HF cat. I'm hoping to do better once it gets back as I have some small improvements as well as a stronger streetport now.
I'd love to see what you put out at 17psi but the case for a MP doesn't seem that pursuasive in your case.

I wouldn't sweat the numbers, Rich. I'm sure you'll easily trap in the 120s.
So, when are you going to bring that beast to the Bay Area so I can see the results of the BNR/Gotham Racing/Steve Kan combo? Think of it as west coast advertising....

hes not done tuning vosko you silly rabbit.
boostns obviously a great tuner, his car is a beast and a freak of nature. tis why he is the only guy in the history of the fd who pulled it off. rich had pushed his stockers pretty much as far as they would go reliably on his vehicle....and thus the upgrade.
hell...boostn can hang with and beat your car all the way to the upper upper rpms* laggy *cough t78 *cough.

just kiddin...lol...sorry...i had to.

The 94 deg air was a BIG factor. I dont even bother getting on my car when its that hot out, it just feels "slow" compared to cooler temps. I think it shorted you at least 20hp.

Re: Preliminary BNR Dyno Results
[i] The ambient temps were 94 degrees, intake air temps in the mid 50s, and the damn place didn't even put a fan in front of the car. [/B]
I've never done a dyno run....looking forward to it after I get my Kan special port and BNR's.
