Precontrol boost pil

I removed both the wastegate and precontrol pills to limit the boost to 7psi, as before I would easily boost 14psi and have a fairly new engine. I am planning on going single so I don't mind limiting the power to save wear and possibly detonating the engine.
The question I have is that since I have removed the precontrol and wastegate pills the transition between turbos takes nearly the rest of the rev range(4500-7000)before you really feel it come back to 7psi. I was wondering if anyone has removed only the wastegate pill and left the precontrol in, in hopes of still having some power on the transition? Just looking to keep the boost down the easiest and cheapest way, but still able to use the second turbo.

i would just go out and buy two needle valves from home depot and use them as your boost controllers. you could easily set them whereever you want the boost and still have the transition at 4500. at first i had a hard time setting the pre-control, so i took the needle valve out and put the pill back in. transition was at 4500, but it will also boost back up to 10. that's why i suggested buying a needle valve to control the boost. nick

I'm just learning about this stuff myself, but I didn't think the secondary would come in at all if the primary didn't make at least 8 psi.

If you're hitting 14 psi with the pills, you must have a lot of mods???

Good luck,

Actually the only mods I have are intake, cat back, downpipe and M2 ECU. Maybe it's the altitute (6000ft)
I was considering the needle valve, but I just wanted to stay simple

i'm not sure if you can get any simplier than the needle valves. but i beleive that 13brv is right. you need 8 lbs on the primary. check this website:

That makes sense about the 8psi and I've read that before, but it seems that the second does come online, it just takes a while. Or maybe it is still only the primary going the whole time and the boost drop is excessive.

you do NOT need 8 psi on primary... needle valves are they way to go if u want a cheap boost controller, that does the same thing as a $500 boost controller. i posted this before see if it helps u https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=115089

im going to have to agree with the guys..get the needle valve. its really easy to install, and not to hard to tune.
ive got two, one for boost and one for pre spool. you just have to keep in mind that the pre spool is very sensitive and .7 mm turn of the valve is about a pound in the transition. i just wish i had a dyno so i wouldnt have to keep pulling off the road to adjust the damn thing when i first set it. after your set, mark on the valves where the setting should be 24-7 so you just have to give them a quick glance every time you open the hood to check the oil.

agree.. precontrol is just that. it brings the secodary up to speed to allow for a smoother transition before the turbo control opens..
