Power FC write up search

Okay I stink at searching the forums. I found Daleclark's write up on the powerFC but didnt get a change to read it...honeydolist.. and now I cant find it. Could someone point me in the right direction please.

I'm worried I'm running too rich not that I removed the air pump with the stock ECU. she runs great but has lots of carbon on the rear bumper and surging idle.

Many Thanks

p.s. looking to buy one asap and learn how to install/setup properly

Thanks for the heads up.

Looks like I have more research to do. I spoke with Cam at Pettit and he suggested I could fix the rich idle by adjusting the throttle plates and air bleed screw. He also suggested I didnt really need the Power FC unless I was going to increase the boost. Hummmm I'm worried I might clog up the exhaust with her running rich enough to leave a think black build up on the rear bummper otherwise she runs great I'm even getting about 19mph

Cam is correct in that you can adjust the lumpy idle by using the throttle adjustments and increasing the idle rpm some. Usually around 1000 rpms is pretty smooth when using a stock or rechipped ECU without the airpump.

Having said that, you do need to do a lot of research to make sure you are doing what is right for you and your car. Simply buying a PFC doesn't solve every problem.

Mahjik, I've added 3/4 of a turn to my throttle stop vertical screw and backed off a little on the air bleed and she is idleing fine. What I'm worried about is the rich condition. If I swipe my finger across the top of the rear bumper I see black build up. I'm worried about fouling plugs or clogging up the exhaust. Is it okay to run rich, is this normal after removing the air pump?? or will I end up with problems later on??

Many Thanks

That may just be the exhaust deposits not being burned off. Do you still have the main cat in place, or are you using a straight through mid-pipe?

I have the 3 inch downpipe with heat wrap stock main cat kept per advise it would prevent boost creep and racing beat catback. The Rich idle or maybe more than the idle began after installing thePettit cold air intake and removing the air pump.

Thx
