Power FC issues

Was thinking that maybe this thread would be better suited in another section (PowerFC, duh), but as it relates primarily to a 3rd gen I thought I'd post here.

So.. here's the run-down. I've got a '92 JDM FD, the ECU currently in it was tuned by PanSpeed and has served me well so far. However, like many people i've always wanted to get my hands on a PowerFC, being the deal finder I am.. I tracked one down for the right price.

The unit I got is pre-owned.. it was on another JDM FD from the same year with similar mods. So I got home after work today and with the few hours I had I decided to attempt an install.. thought it'd be easy enough but I ran into some problems and they are as follows..

When I first put everything together, the car started up just fine.. idle for a few seconds then died.

So..

I adjusted the idle bleed screw a couple different times, first time was all the way in then back 1/2 a turn. Which raised the idle up to 4000 so I thought it was bunk and shut the car off, adjusted again and then it bounced around above 1000 for a couple seconds but didn't die.

So at this point I realized it was getting late and that I needed my FD for tomorrow, I put everything back the way it was and came on here to ask for help/opinions.

Also.. my FC commander stayed at the "Apex'i" screen the entire time, I was thinking to wipe everything and go back to the stock map so the system could learn my idle.. but I never got that chance.

Basically this is my issue..
I'd like to wipe everything off the ECU and start fresh to learn my systems idle.. how can I do this when my commander is not cooperating?
Also.. this idle bleed screw all the way in and 1/2 turn back doesn't seem right, should I just shut up and listen? Or is there a better way.

Has anyone else installed a used PowerFC on their car? If so.. how did it go, what did you do and what problems did you run into?

Thanks for reading! Any help much appreciated!

with key on, does it go past the Apexi screen or stuck there?

When the key is just turned to the "On" (Not running) position, it stays at the Apex'i screen.

I believe that is covered under the FAQ's sticky on the Apexi PFX subforum.

2f. I turned on my car the other day, and the Commander hangs at the Apexi logo
screen. Is my PowerFC broken?
Nope. People have reported that it's due to a wire inside of the commander coming from
the cord to the PowerFC breaking loose of its solder joint. A simple re-soldering of the
wire seems to fix the problem – the brown wire inside the unit is the most common
culprit.
I have seen on mine that the connection from the commander to the PowerFC came loose
– turn off the car, unplug the commander, plug it back in, and that can solve the problem.

Actually just after my last post I remembered that I had already printed off that FAQ a long time ago haha, so I went to read it.

As far as reseting the system.. i'll need my FC commander to be working in order to do that, right?

I've wondered about setting the idle adjustment screws with the PFC.

the Idles on the PFC are user set, and I was using a preprogrammed map that was typical of my mods. i dont have anything that far from stock such as a single turbo.

so I set the idle adjusting screws while using the stock computer then switched in the PFC.

so does one set the idle with the pfc the same way as stock even if you have a pre-mapped pfc??
