Power FC and boost controller?

With the Power FC and Commander do you need a boost controller still?

No, but it works better with one. I never used one for the longest time. Then I finally bought a Profec B. The damn boost came on much faster. I was very impressed and would reccommend it.

Don't get the Blitz! Its a POS! Reckless on the fourm had it and blew his motor. It doesn't control boost for ****. Get something proven and without gimmic's. The Greddy Profec B is your best bet.

I know of at least two people who used the Blitz SBCID and blew their motors due to uncontrolable boost issues. When the new motors were in and and the boost controler was pitched in favor of the Profec B, all worked well. I've had my RX for a long time. I know what works and what doesn't. The pretty gizmos's are the ones that will get you into trouble.
If you blow your motor, don't come crying on the fourm, like your wern't warned.

I had the Profec B for my GSX and I am planning on getting one for my FD as well but as of now I am just using the PFC as my boost controller. I also have heard bad things about the Blitz. The Profec A is also a waste of money, get the Profec B and make life a little simpler.

Profec B or the AVC-R...those are the two that control boost the best.

Profec B is THE BEST.

Doesn't apex offer a boost controller to work with the PFC? Anyone have this or know anything about it? Also, how do you controll boost through the PFC? tuning?

Yes they do. It's a boost solenoid from the AVC-R and a pressure sensor to measure altitude. If you're near sea level...just purchase the AVC-R boost solenoid. It plugs right into the stock boost solenoid on the wiring harness.

Control boost, go to the boost section of options and turn your percentage up or down!

Hey V8KILLR,

One of the local guys is selling an Apexi AVC-R if you are interested. It's about a year old, no problems.

Does no one else on this forum use a SBCID I would like to hear some one comment on it that actually has it. If in fact it does suck I will sell it and buy a a profec B. Didnt super street or something do a test on all the boost controllers and SBCID came out way on top?

Turbo xs dual stage manual boost controller! Not great looking but is flawless and the boost doesn't flucsuate like the avc-r! The digital boost controllers are never accurate under high boost...

ive noticed that the pfc does a very minimal job of controlling boost....i actually get more accurate control with my manual boost controller?

Im right at sea level...can hear the waves from my apt...but I fail to see how a better solonoid is going to do that much difference?

that will not allow me to run more than the boost that the pfc already controls....right?

anyone having any measurable luck with the pfc controlling boost at 16 plus lbs?

just wondering...cuz I sure dont...Im probably going profec b cuz the the pfc to me controlls boost like a retarded monkey controls its bowels.

the above point about digital controllers sounds right to me after dealing with the pfc...whats the info on that turbo xs unit?

I'm not 110% familiar with pfc but have heard it doesn't control boost accurate. I have turbo xs unit, it's a manual unit with a switch so you can set dailt driven boost and on the fly high boost. My boost so far has been 100% accurate and I love it...

Is the problem with PFC boost control mostly when over 12 psi? I see no problem with the PFC @10,11,12psi - the logs from datalogit show a fairly consistent result.

I've used the sbc-id for more than a year now, from the first time it came out. No problems at all. My buddy who has a single Supra w/ profec B is actually very impressed w/ it due to all the stuff it can do : graph setting, automatic boost setting etc. Turbo magazine have done 2 testing of boost controllers and the sbc-id has won them both. Those who has problem with it are probably had them connected wrong.

You should have no problems until you hit 1.2 kg/cm2.
