Possible solution for Flashing hold light on Automatic Tranny
I have an idea for a Possible solution for Flashing hold light on Automatic Tranny...I had the problem where my hold light starts flashing at 31 mph, ever since the tranny was removed and reinstalled. No work was done to it other than the screen and fluid was replaced (Tranny tested fine).
Ever since the tranny was reinstalled, I immediately had the problem where hold would start flashing. It indicated error code 6, speed sensor 1. This is not the one for the speedo that's easy to get to, it's the one on the top of the tranny at the bell housing. I had the sensor replaced and still the same problem.
Here's my thoughts and I want to know if anyone tried this. When I removed the flywheel, 2 of the stainless bolts stripped and they were replaced with a different bolt from the tranny shop that were just a black metal. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THE 4 BOLTS ON THE FLYWHEEL MUST BE THE SAME METAL AS ORIGINAL BECAUSE THE SPEED SENSOR IS CHECKING FOR THE BOLTS TO PASS BY THE SENSOR? I suspect the two other bolts are a different and the sensor is not picking them up.
I've also noticed that almost everyone who posted the problem here had their tranny or engine out or replaced the torque convertor when this problem happened.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thx-Jeff

check the hold button itself. i had the same problem when i replaced the tranny on my millinia. it has the hold button. i had to take about the shifter and the button was actually shorting out after i replaced the tranny. which was odd..happens to alot of mazda's i noticed aftre the tranny has been replaced or re-re has taken place..not sure what causes it..anyways check it out..i replaced it with a switch from mazda..
quick way to check is take it part and give it direct positive contact and see if the light go on and then goes back off with you giving it power and ground..as in by pass the switch so you make it on and off. if it does by your comand then u need a switch..i hope that helps some what
p.s. when u check codes do you get an output speed sensor code?

Ok, my hold light has flashed before, in the past all i have needed to do is restart the engine, in one case i got rid of it when the rpms reached a certain level. Now the hold button is staying on. I just installed a pfc. Any thoughts??
