Porting stock wastegate question

Hi all, I was reading up on the mods I am planning, and according to what everyone is saying I have to port the stock wastegate in order to help eliminate boost spike from installing dp/mp/cat back exhaust. I pulled the turbos off today and the bridge between the wastegate flapper and exhaust outlet or whatever is cracked! I figured there is no point in porting......more like time for new turbos!! Just curious...the crack is decent size.....so I figure it will leak anyway. Thanks!

Run a search for 'turbo crack*' and read the results.

It's actually quite common, and doesn't mean the turbos need replaced.
