Pop goes the wankel?
So yeah. I finally got the car out of the garage today. I didn't even plan on leaving the neighborhood, I just wanted to drive her once around the block to see how everything was running. She had no hood and was extremely dirty, nevertheless it felt great.
I was in second gear and wanted to see if I got the vacuum lines and turbos in right so I gave it a little gas only hitting 4 or 5 psi. The exact moment I hit 5 psi I heard a huge pop from the engine bay (i know a backfire when I hear one and this was no backfire). The idle still seemed smooth and the map sensor is still connected.
I am under the impression that if it is an apex seal, it would idle like ****. What can I check besides obvious compression test?

damn man sorry, i just took my single turbo which is no where near ready out for a spin and its havin all kinds of drivetrain alignment issues (I THINK, didn't check my bushings, though)
Rebuild coming your way or what?
Rebuild coming your way or what?
yeah. the good news is that after I rebuild the engine, I will have rebuilt everything (transmission, turbos and engine).
Going single huh? Let me life vicariously through you until I complete my rebuild!
Seriously.

What does your boost/vacuum gauge read?
If your idle is still smooth, i doubt you blew a seal. You'll know right away at idle if you lost an apex.
Now a cracked apex, thats a different story. Ill let the vets chime in on that one.

Car was completely warm before I boosted at all. ALWAYS!
Anyway, one of the intercooler pipes popped off, thank god. Scared the **** out of me. Atleast I'll be able to hit 10 psi before a seal goes.
