ok, done with the swap, just tell me if i missed anything:

mechanical:
put a stock flywheel on (torqued that big butt bolt to about 320 lbs, used lock tight, and gasket seal), put the clutch in (used centering tool), put the pressure plate on (tor. the 6 bolts to about 20 lbs, put wedge collar and wire ring in, throw out barring popped into place corretly (i think).

put tranny on, and hooked up the driveshaft, to the drilled out companion plate, fits good and snug.

put clutch pedal in, put clutch master cyl. in, hooked the clutch master cyl. to the brake master cyl. resevoir, attached lines to clutch slave cyl., bleed the line, clutch pedal popped up good.

hooked up manual starter, reattached torsion bar (cross member), put midpipe back on.

electrical:
drivers side kick panel, i found the starter interlock relay, and jumped the two largest wires. then, i went to the passenger side kick panel, and jumped the two largest wires in the X-05 harness.

installed the manual ecu.

hooked up the speedometer harness to the tranny.

i think thats about it, is there any vacuum hose adjustments? anything else i need to take off, or add? please shard advice, thanks.

looks like you did it correct... what did you do about the rear differential did you swap it out for the 4.10's or did you leave in the 3.90's

You might check the vacuum diagram, but I remember there being at least one extra vacuum line for autos than manuals. If you haven't looked those over yet, you might check that out.

I can't comment on the wiring, you'll have to bug ejmack or cover8 on that, but most everything else looks ok.

Just keep your cell phone and insurance card with you on your test drive, just in case.

Wiring sounds good, all i did was jump the two biggest wires in the tranny harness though... Accomplishes the same thing...

You'll be fine.... I see you took my advice on drillin out the 3.9 companion flange...

ejmack1, yep, thanks for the idea about drilling out the companion flange, it works great, and saved me some money, im not even kidding here, parts and everything, after selling my auto tranny, i might have been around 700 bucks in all this, u were right about doing it cheap,

thanks to all, and anyone else?

Yea, you should be able to just remove it. I believe it's located near the Wastegate and Turbo Precontrol solenoids (just behind them if I remember correctly).

If you pull the UIM, it will make much more sense looking at the diagram and the real thing at the same time.

Unfortunately, I have no idea. I don't have any experience with auto's. I wonder if it provided something for the torque converter? I never traced that line.

There is a nipple on the driver side of the brake fluid resevoir with a
rubber cap on it. Take the cap off and plug the hose from the cylinder
into it.

I take it you fixed the wiring problems you had.
Congrats Mcfly!

$800 including plugs, wires, and hoses! Dayam!

I need to get my *** in gear and my 5-speed on. I've got money saved up, but my biggest concern is how long my car is going to be out of commission, and whether or not I can find someone with all the parts I need for cheap (I wouldn't mind a used clutch, but I want the 4.1 rear end and 5-spd gauge cluster).

mcfly4001 and ejmack1,
On a scale of 1 (runs like s***) to 10 (runs like a new factory 5-spd), how successful do you feel your conversion is and why? What would you have done differently?

Thanks in advance!

Well, when i first got the conversion done, it drove just as well as a buddy's stock 5 spd FD.

I am now installing my new 5spd block, a newly remanned 5 spd and fairly brand new turbo's... so we will see how it works... Plus i will more than likely have a answer to those electrical questions without majorly modifying or switching harnesses... The wonders of a multimeter hahahah

brads, the car is finally running good, i might have to make that trip down there to fl.!

jonski, mines about an 8 out of 10, bc, i used the auto rear end, i think the manual 4:11 gears are a must., and i had to do a complete tune up (which i needed to do anyway, cause i left my car sitting in the garage so long, long story)

dude, if i had, had all the parts in my garage, at one time, and a car manual, and a little more knowledge of these cars, i would have had it done in two days easy, no kidding, thats by myself, with no jackstand, on car ramps in my home garage, its not hard, everything just bolts up, the clutch master cyl. holes are already there, no drilling, the tranny goes up there easy, just one wiring change, a couple vacuum hose changes, that kind of thing. im sure u know more about these cars than i did when i started, and having this website was a blessing, so u will fly through it.

just be patient, and start putting a parts list together, and find them, they are out there, and i could try to help u out here if u need some help finding them,

later man

paul
