so you know, the part you are looking for looks like this:

It will have flanges on both ends and be made of metal.

You might want to study the FAQs a little more before you buy that car... or at the very least, before you buy mods. I'd lmao if somebody showed me their new "downpipe" that was actually an intake elbow.

Sorry but I find this funny. Just need to open your bonnet and that intake elbow stares you in the face.

Glad you checked with us before you went about buying this which I imagine is a used one.

yes thats realy funny but i dont have my rx7 right now. i'm waiting for it to arrive from japan in 2 months.
i did a lot of research on FD on this forum and other websites: how to mod it, how to prevent overboost and overheat, what aftermarket ecu to use in case of runing lean. I just dont have experience in working on RX7 so i dont know how different parts look, thats why i asked this question.

lol...I saw the pic...read the topic...and the thought of someone trying to use an intake elbow as a downpipe just made me laugh a little.

Good luck with the car if you get it, but yeah - read up a little first. Downpipes are never going to be made of plastic.

JDM FDs don't have precat, so the downpipe upgrade is not as important as it is on the north american FDs. You might want to look at other reliability mods before you change the stock downpipe for an aftermarket one.

But a plastic one would be a sweet weight reduction as it would melt and fall appart after a couple of minutes

Good luck with your mods, i'd recommend the hks downpipe or if you can get access to jap parts get the R-magic, Knightsports or FEED downpipe.

They were rated the same, but the USDM model was probably lacking a couple HP care of the precat.

Also, you'll have to buy a RHD specific downpipe. The US style downpipe won't fit on your car because of the brake booster being on that side.

The brake booster has nothing to do with it, the steering is in the way on the RHD models.
