Please Help!!! How To Change Oil Pan, Got Lost... Help!!!!

Im trying to change my oil pan because i dented the one i had prior. Looks really confusing because i'm not sure whats holding up the engine. Do i take off the crossmember? Do i use a cherry picker to hold up the motor? Has anyone done this? please send me a link or guide me through this process, i would greatlly appreciate it.

Try this thread:

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...easier+oil+pan

I held up the engine with a home-made unit that rested on the edge of the engine compartment that the hood recesses into. I lifted on the lift bracket on the LF of the engine until the engine was as high as it could go (trans against the body).

Between that and the above link, that should get you started.

I haven't put in all of the details - hopefully you can figure it out from here. The shop manual is a great help - you can download it - there are links to it in the "stickies."

Search for "oil pan sealing" for more info.

Is your current oil pan badly dented or leaking? Because I wouldn't touch it if the dent is cosmetic. FD oil pans tend to leak enough that it's best left alone if there isn't a good reason to remove it.

you knwo i wa sjust about to do this becasue i have an oil leak from the rear of the engine ever since it wa sinstalled, I'm abot to pull the tranny to replace the seond gear synchro becasu emien is trashed. I was going to go this route but it seemed liek too much of a hassel and i figured if the engine is all apart as is and the tranny is coming out might as well just pull the sucker out. By the way has anyone ever done an exhuast port on the engine whiel the engine was still assembled haha?
