Please Help (BOV)

My car vents 2 times within one rpm range. And it doesn't vent when im shifting.. im not sure where to start to fix this problem.. my boost is fine.. My boost right now is about 10 to 11 psi.. but im just concerned about the way my car is venting (BOV)

I assume that you already realize that the BOV operates when the throttle is closed (deceleration, etc) and is venting excess pressure in the intake plumbing. That means if you are venting during acceleration, then the the BOV is getting vacuum draw during that phase to open the BOV. All I can surmise is that you have something reversed in the vacuum system that is operating the BOV. Have you recently done something with your vacuum lines or rat's nest?

yes the BOV is going off. as im accelerating. but i haven't done anything with my vacumn lines or rats nest

Is this a full throtle? Also are you still on stock sequentals?

Somehow the CRV and/or the BOV are getting a vacuum draw during the acceleration phase when they are not supposed to be. If you have not worked in the area of the rat's nest, I suspect that you are having problems with the function of the solenoids that control the CRV and/or the BOV. The solenoid 2nd from the rear in the rat's nest (I believe it is blue?) controls the BOV and the black solenoid up top and to the front of the UIM controls the CRV. I would inspect the vacuum lines on those two closely and also check to see if the nipples have any cracks. If all of the hoses and nipples are intact, then the solenoids have probably gone bad internally. You can test them by applying a 12 volt electrical source and see if the flow changes properly (see page F-191 of the FSM). If you have an extra solenoid around, you can also swap it in to see if your problem goes away. If you know what you are looking at, you can probably probe the vacuum lines and nipples on the relief solenoid (2nd from rear) from behind the UIM without pulling the UIM. If not, then the UIM will need to come off. The CRV solenoid should be visible enough from the front to check the lines and nipples there.

My first question is why you hear your BOVs. Are they stock? Did you disconnect them from the airbox to make them audible? Reconnect one at a time to figure out which one is doing the abnormal venting.

At what RPM does it first vent - is that consistent?

venting

Check your IC piping and couplings. I've blown a coupling and hose and both times it sounded like the BOV under acceleration. Check closely as sometimes the cracks are hard to find.

its porbably a a hole in the piping at the S bend going into the intercooler.

The BOV vents around 3000-35000 rpm.. its both during WOT and regular driving.. Yes im still on sequential turbos, uhmmm..The BOV near the passenger side headlight is disconnected from the airbox... i'll look around some more.. hopefully i can figure things out... I might meet up with another 7 owner tomoro.. hopefully he has the time. because he is far more knowlegable then i am. thanks for the help guys..

Plug that guy back into the airbox and do a test run. If it's the cause, both venting sounds should get much quieter. If there a boost leak, the sound won't be affected.
