pleasant surprise, but how did it happen
This is the first time I have had a good surprise from my FD!! I have had 6-7 lbs. of boost on my primary w/ no boost on the secondary for a good 6 months now. I just assumed it was vacuum line related and w/ 77k on the engine (and it being just a weekend car) I was in no hurry to do the vacuum job until I got a rebuild. I thought the rebuild was just around the corner since it took a little longer to crank over, extra smoke at start-up, low vac. readings at idle, etc. Well the past 2 weeks I have had to use it as my daily driver and thought nothing of it until today. I started it up and the exhaust note was deep and throaty and was popping/backfiring like it used to when driving it cold. So after it gets to normal operating temp I give it gas and primary boost jumps to 12lbs. and holds perfectly. Then to my amazement my secondary comes on and holds 10 lbs to redline!! I almost wet my pants because I forgot what kind of power these bad boys have. Can anyone give a little insight as to what happened?? My mods are the typical exhaust, intake, and upgraded ECU (all Pettit products). Could the hi-flo cat have been clogged??
Thanks for your input,
Brett

sounds like a secondary turbo vac line prob, open up your hood and look at the black box in front of your manifold and check to see if you have a loose vac line going into the black box or underneath it (only 2 bolts). maybe you had a loose actuater and it got reattched somehow.........??but I would check in there and see if anything is amiss, do us all a favor now that you have full boost and embaress some of those yuppies in their corvettes!!

When I was sequential, I pulled chunks of hair out trying to figure out why they would work some times, but not others. There were times when all did between non-working, and properly working turbos was remove a single line an put it back on. It's a mystery to me how it would have helped, but it is possible that simply driving the car was enough catylist for something to happen.
If I were to take a guess, I would say that something like dirt and oil finally blew past a check valve, or solenoid passage. It could have been a bad harness connection, or piece of carbon builup flaking off one of the control doors.
I'm glad you got the chance to feel the power again. I just hope it lasts more than the next start up.
