O.K. here is the long and short of it.
I was testing out my FD and in every gear (well, at least 1-3) above 6500 rpm I start to hear the well known popping noise and experience power fluctuations. The plugs are brand new NGKs. A/F gauge is well into the green.
I added a bottle of octane boosters with the new tank of gas and made a quick run up to the redline in 2nd, and it seemed to have helped.
So here is my question, can someone explain to me the diff between pinging, knocking (which I think is the same as pinging) and detonation, their causes and remedies please.
I will be installing a FMIC soon, and I am hoping it will help in preventing detonation (so I've heard)

if you dont have enough fuel, an intercooler will actually increase detonation.

 

Well, here is the thing. I have a Pettit unlimited ECU and I am running rich, so I don't think that's going to be too big of a problem. But can a high pressure fuel pump provide more fuel or do I HAVE to upgrade to larger injectors? Thanks
