pills in the pre-control?

I have a street ported engine now. It has just a bit of lag when comparied to the stock engine.

I want the first turbo to come on line quicker.

Will using a larger jet or pill in the PRECONTROL do this?
The stock pill is a .59. I was thinking of a .60 or .61.
My boost pattern is about 12 - 13 - 13. What would my
boost pattern be with a larger pre-control jet or pill as well.

I have my wastegate ported too. To eliminate some boost spiking.

Does anyone know for sure? jc.

The pre-control (PC) pill slightly affects the timing of when the PC actuator opens the PC gate. This pill combined with the spring tension of the PC actuator
controls the mechanical part of #2 turbo spoolup. These
only affect #1 turbo boost and transition spiking or dipping. They do not affect #1 tubo lag.

Mainly; engine porting, exhaust system, and #1 tubo condition affect #1 spoolup.

If you are runnning seq turbos and are complaining about lag with a 12-13-13 boost pattern, it is hard to believe what you are saying.

What exhaust system are you running?

CHuck is right the differnce to turbo lag on primary will be so small you won't notice it. a smaller, not larger pill will raise primary boost. it will also create a bigger dip possibly in transition. Any decrease in turbo lag would come from actually diminishing the size of the pill, thus wasting less boost. but as you can imaginge won't make much differnce in lag. It will riase boost quite a bit though. with smaller PC pill you may get 13-12-13, just a wild guess, but you get the point.

Hi Chuck... I am running a Stainless downpipe / Borla
Xr-1 midpipe / and Blitz catback.

My boost pattern is probally closer to 11 - 13 - 13. And a little more at night. Still running pills to control boost.
Not Electronic boost control.

Is there any solution? To make my boost come on stronger and sooner with the 1# turbo?

thanks jc.

What... are you sure...? Doesn't the wastegate pill give you more Over-all boost from both turbos?

jc ...

I am not sure what you are saying, but basically the more pressure the TPC and WG actuyators see the more they actuate. thus, the more the TPC prespools and the more the WG vents. by decreasing pill size you are delaying and reducing amount of pressure in actuators, thus lessening pre-spool and lessening wG venting, and more importantly increasing primary boost and overall boost.

so, decrease pill size in TpC and get greater primary but less prespool which means more dip.
