pillow ball mounts

what is a pillow ball mount? I plan to do some suspension work soon, and have heard that I need to replace the pillow ball mounts at the same time. is this correct?
thanks

They sit on top of the spring and hold the strut to the body. OEM mounts use rubber, aftermarket mounts are solid and can be harsh on the street.

You might wanna head this thread over to the Suspension/Wheels/Tires/Brakes section. You will most likely get a lot more responses.
