you could always open a cash pool to have the rear quarter panel pulled off flare and all, have a body shop make a mold, smooth it out, and make a one piece fiberglass rear quarter panel with the flare. that would be bada$$

Hi Legendrx7,

Did you have your car down at TX2K2? I didn't see it. I know there was another silver 3rd gen (TN plates) and Spyfish007's CYM. Thought there would be a better showing of RX7s down in Houston but maybe next year. I also saw the red RX7 with the fender flares - the owner said they were custom flares even after I asked him if they were the Pettit flares (guess they are custom molded onto the body :p). The dish on the back speedline rims were sick on his car.

Your car looks awesome by the way - I know by looking at the red RX7 down in the Houston, pictures do not do the car or fender flares any justice. Later -- Tommy

I like how your car has no spoiler. I have never been a big fan of wings (someday, I will remove it from my mr2). I had no idea molding would cause cracks. In that case, I believe it looks great all around.

I'll bet you don't have a 6" tachometer strapped to your center console.

That's way phat compared to old brilliant black. Like everyone said those fender flares are tight! It looks really sweet already, a carbon fiber masdaspeed spoiler would be like a bonus. Much props.

Must be a coincidence, but DrKillJoy just posted a link to the red widebody RX7 in Houston in the South Forum. Here is the website - http://www.houston-rx7.net/cesarmora -- Later Tommy

Jimlab: your're right, mine doesn't have a 6" Tack wrapped around the center console. It doesn't have a V8 crammed in it either. I think your're gonna need flares and meat ALOT more than I ever will

lostboi: that's a good idea man. But, they would have to pry it from my dead hands before I'm giving it to anybody before the race season is over Maybe on down the line. I really do love the look of it with molded flares, but I am on cloud 7 right now

Single7: Thanks, I just got my car back this past Friday. I was suppose to ride down there with my budy that has an SP-66 Supra, but his was in the body shop too and the bastards didn't get it done in time. So, we took my recent purchase, a 90' Talon AWD Turbo, that I only paid $1450 for and have only changed the air filter, oil and plugs You may have seen it, we stayed at the Holi Inn and tagged around everywhere.

Your're right, there wasn't much of a FD crowd there in Houston. I met Carson (Spyfish007) and the guy with the Silverstone FD, I think his name was Vince?? (Silver7??) He was really cool, he took me for a few laps on the Blimp base course. Hell, I may have met you

That was a badass trip, the street (freeway) racing scene there was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. There was a quarter mile of traffic blocking up 4 lanes of I-10 and it was all Supra's, Vipers, RX-7's, Corvette's, a Ferrari, and my Talon

Thanks for posting the link of the red one, Tommy.

Thanks again everyone for the compliments

Hey Legendrx7,

Was your talon black/red or black/grey? I may have seen you blow by me on the way to San Antonio going 100+ mph? Yeah the street racing was sweet. To bad there were too many cars on the road (looked awesome with all those supras, vipers, and vettes) and it took to long for anyone to race. The Grand Sport Vette blew by me when I was already at 130 mph -- shook my whole car, it was unreal.

He he, yup that was the Talon alright, it's black/silver. DevoJ67 was driving like a mad man. We drove from Houston to San Antonio at 100mph+ the whole way. I told him to drive b/c I knew he would drive faster than me and we were running late

When the street racing was going on, I just ended up following the 550 Maranello when the pack broke up. I would have loved to see Peter racing Hennessey in the TT Viper w/ N20, I heard that he pulled on Hennessey by a couple of car lenths

which car were you in?

Hey Legendrx7,

I was in the "other" CYM that was in everyone's way. Yeah, I was trailing a white supra going about 90 when I see your Talon blow by with all your crap loaded up in the back . I wish your finished RX7 could've been there.

It was odd at TX2K2... when you see every supra with a single turbo, it starts to look funny when you see one with stock twins . Also made me glad I didn't buy a supra...it looked like a freaking Toyota dealership parking lot at starbucks.

MOLD THAT ****!!!
Maybe I'm the only one that doesn't think it's cool to have "bolt on" flares
I was thinking the same thing. I like the look of the "seamless" design.

Legendrx7, I have the GTC front sitting in the garage waiting to go to the body shop in a week. I was trying to figure out how to protect the FMIC with the steel wire mesh but the fiberglass looks to thin to mount the mesh.Thinking about getting certain spots built up so I can mount the steel mesh. Plus it looks better I think. Did you look into this ? The car looks great by the way.

legendrx7, much props to your FD, man. it looks unbelievable. you mentioned thinking about going single sometime in the future. if you're going to continue auto-x'ing, i would strongly warn you against it. the spool up time kills you down low. you could opt for a small single ... a guy in our club runs a supra with a small single (pretty nice setup), but it backfires ALOT ... don't know if the 13B would react kindly to that. if time and money are no object, i'd recommend trying to acquire some '99 spec turbos instead. great looking car, dude.

color

thats a nice color but is the engine bay painted silver too? mannnn, i woulda kept the car black. i think that a stock colored black fd looks better than most fds with body kits. nice rims though.

I knew I had seen that Red FD before. If that guy said those are custom its a crock. If you go to Pettit's website a picture of his flares are on their page.

Hi Everyone,

Just a couple pics I took while at TX2K2. This first one is a pic of the Speedline rims on the red RX7. I've never seen another car with such a deep dish.
