Pictures of my revamped R1
I just got my car back from the body shop on Friday. Originally the car was Brilliant Black, but I had the color changed to Porsche Arctic Silver.
These pictures were taken by a friend at a gathering we had on Saturday. I am planning on taking some nice pictures ASAP. And of course, the pictures do not do the car justice. What do you guys/gals think? https://www.fototime.com/F7FCF03F763207D/standard.jpg https://www.fototime.com/52BD5D2C0E5A697/standard.jpg |

WOAH! Looks nice! I like the rear fender flares!
|
Sweet. How much did it cost?
|
Really nice.... except the rims arent my taste.
|
Cool, couple questions..... How wide of tires can you run in the back with those pettit flares? And is it possible to have the flares molded into the body? Oh and if you dont mind me asking how much are they? Pettit doesnt list them on their site.
|
To wing or not to wing, that is the question... :)
|
another body kit, that LOOKS like a body kit :(
MOLD THAT SHIT!!! :o: Maybe I'm the only one that doesn't think it's cool to have "bolt on" flares |
Looking good!! :D Side skirts??? I know u would have a hard time with the fender flares but it seems to be missing something.
|
17x12 CCW wheels w/ 315 in back? whoa you are the man! do you get any understeer you can't dial out w/ that setup while racing?
|
I like the exterior but I think it would look even more bad ass with some gunmetal/charcoal colored wheels from Simmons or Forgeline...
|
Yes, I agree that it would look much better if the flares were molded somehow.
|
It looks gooood!
There is nothing wrong with bolt on fender flares :) http://www.dennigcars.com/Model_page...1_GT2_1995.jpg |

looks nice :) good choice of color

phucking phat....no need to mold that wide ass of yours in, it will only cre8 issues later if there is even the slightest mishap....
besides the bolted flares look more 'agressive' -louis |
Dude, your car is utterly sick, but some black powder coated wheels would completly change the feel of your car to a more "please, I haven't the time or need to humiliate your pice of shit"
Ant PS Black rims! |
sorry I missed the e's in completely and piece
|
sorry, this is long
Thank you for all of the compliments:D
The car was in the body shop for 3 months. Back in December I had slid it off into a ditch. The damage was very minimal, a couple of small dents and a whole lot of scratches. All of the damage was caused by low lying tree branches, there was no impact and I drove it home. So the short of it is, insurance paid for the whole car to get painted. I decided if I was going to have brand new paint that it would have to be a color that was easy to take care of (unlike the original black color) so I decided on Silver. The color change was about $1200. The installation, clean up work, and paint for the extra pieces was $800. So, I came up with the parts and $2000 and the insurance company paid for the rest. I did this all on a budget. I do not have bottomless pockets:) I have seen an FD with the flares molded in, it was in Houston a couple weeks back when I was at TX2K2 (Supra Nationals). I saw the car at the Starbucks parking lot and it completely floored me! I asked about doing it but 2 different body shops said that it would crack no matter what and it would cost a lot more. So, I may do it on down the line, but I love how the flares look now! As for the wheels/tires. Once again budget was the key word. I spent a total of $2550 on wheels and tires! I love the look and quality of the CCW wheels. They are just as nice as the Forgeline or Fikse at almost 1/2 the cost! Going wingless was a very hard decision. I really like the look of it without the wing. Me and a buddy with a T-66 Supra both had our cars painted and wings removed. We are both tired of seeing wings on everything. In a year or two I may put one back on. I had my stock wing painted along with the stock headlight covers just in case. I never have cared too much for sideskirts. I had to have the front removeable. Imagine if you needed to change out the intercooler! It would look nice molded, but would just cause too many problems working on it. I autoX'd the car yesterday. It was .5 seconds off of FTD. I have not got to put the Koni's on yet but the car handled incredibly with less understeer than it had before. It was bad ass on the track to say the least, very grippy. Oh yeah, the flares cost $300/pair. With the proper spacing, 12 inch wheels will fit with a maximum of 335/35's. I will be putting 335's on when I have to buy tires again. |
You should think about covering up the license plate in that pic at the top of the page.
