Pictures of my 93 CYM R1!

my apologies for being an attention ***** or at the very least a little vain. but over the past three days, i've washed her, clay barred her, polished her, imperial hand glazed her, and waxed her! i even cleaned the wheels! so i need someone to appreciate the all the hard work! she's so clean and pretty right now i don't even think i can bring myself to take her to the next autocross. motoko is now cozy and warm inside her garage under her california car cover.

thanks for your time. my fatigued back and arm appreciates it.

All of a sudden, I like Yellow on a FD again.

Other than yours and Potato, all other CYM FD's I've seen aren't really up to par compared to those with Silver FD's.

Come do my car now.

lol @ potato's comment about ttt. btw, i still need to get around to painting my interior like your's but i'm still working on getting replacement panels that don't keep popping off. anyway, thanks for the compliments.

by any chance would anyone happen to knoe if the volk racing te37 magnesiums come with a gun metal center and polished rims? the pictures i've seen online all look like a dark bronze-ish color. not sure if they come in other styles. i was told the le37s are exactly the same except they come with polished lips or something? do they le37 and te37 differ in other ways? 12.9 lbs each thoe, pretty snazzy. anyone have an idea on how much they cost? been thinking about them as the wheels i want to get. very little weight (even in 18s...to accomodate any future brake upgrades) but i'm not absolutely certain i'm sold on the style yet. i kinda want something with a bigger lip...

these white wheels also look nice and have a nice lip to them. not sure if i want yellow on white or yellow on gun metal/steel grey-ish with polished lip. blarg. any opinions would be cool.

i was contemplating bbs lms too but they're rather heavy thoe nicely forged and strong. plus, they randomly look weird to me at times. blarg...anyways! tally ho!

oops, well, the front lip scrapes all the time so i never really feel like trying to keep it pretty. it gets banged up too much...as well as the undersides of my front wheel wells...hm...seems like my tires are rubbing the insides of the wheel wells at times...gotta work on figuring how to fixt that...

heh, taking the interior apart is always fun... not. if you have any questions about the interior just ask (i'm potatobbq on aol im) since i've taken mine apart so many damn times already. which panels are popping off?

i think the te37 mags only come standard in that dark blue color. at over $1k per wheel tho, they aren't exactly cheap... or even affordable. i think the le37t and te37 are pretty much the same except the finish and polished lip on the le.

so the one in the picture above would be the le37s then? wow, 1k a wheel and (as you said on im), they don't see american soil? jeebus, that's a blarg. i guess i'll have to weigh the alternatives. at this point in how much motorsports i try participating in, i don't think i can invest in really nifty light-weight race wheels like that. back to the drawing boards!

as for the panels, its basically just my transmission tunnel cover. the clips were broken by the previous owners so it doesn't snap shut and stay shut. it pops off rather easily and being the **** bastard that i am, i wanted to replace them with a unbroken one. my driver's door insturment panel is also kinda janky. the door bin's lid falls off whenever i close the door and there are some small cracks. all stuff that are just minor annoyances...kinda like those itches that feel like they're deep within you and you can't scratch it cuz you'd have to slice open your skin and dig in there to reach it. yeah, like that. i've read the write up on painting the panels...looks about as fun as an enema (and i mean that in a bad way mind you) but its a good write up. thanks! *thumbsup*

After I clean my car really well I like to spray my R1 lip with tire shine. It looks money! Its very black and matches the tires after that. Also will last threw several rainy days before fading. I spray the rear black peice by the exhaust also. Just tryin to help you out.

Makes me really want to get my car repainted. Anyone know what a R-magic N-1 style body kit would look like
CYM?

Awesome looking car, and good video too!!

Would you happen to have any interior, or engine bay shots? I'd really like to see more of your car.

RedFD:

what?!? you don't like vws?!? they squeek and rattle just as much as my rx7 does! anyway, the volkswagen was a great cruiser car, very comfortable, pretty damn classy. i miss her regardless of how slow she was...even after the turbo upgrade!

about the tire dressing thing, i was wondering if those worked on the lip too. haha, i imagined they would but i didn't really want to try and risk it melting off or something random happening. i'll give it a shot next time or something.

Johnny:

you knoe i wanted a silver FD first. my offer to trade with you still stands.

MTC & rynberg:
i don't have any interior shots (i do have some odometer shots when i happened to have my camera when it rolled over a nice fat even thousand number...dunno why...for posterity maybe) nor engine shots but i can describe them to you. the engine is janky, aka dirty. well...it looks dirty. i've tried to clean it up as best i can but it takes a lot of rubbing and scrubbing. i imagine it'd take more time to clean the engine bay than the rest of the car and i don't have the right tools or materials (is there any specific cleaner i can use for the engine bay only? not necessarily the engine, but the surrounding surfaces and etc?). regular soap and water doesn't get rid of the grime very well. as for the interior, its pretty much stock R1 except for a janky autometer sport comp boost gauge on the a-pillar and a janky sony headunit that i'm thinking of either removing entirely or possibly replacing. shrug. if you click the link in my signature for "motoko" you'll find a list of the modifications on the car. the vast majority of the stuff was on the car when i bought it. all i've done is maintain it, autocross it, drive it around a little, restore it, and keep it healthy and happy. she giggles with glee.

lawn boy:

i thought people said the new yellow corvettes resembled our FDs. the smoked rear bumper sidemarkers was done by the previous owner or he had it done by someone else. at first i wanted to swap them back to original but i think i can live with them for now...they match the dark taillights well anyway. i'm thinking he was going for a black/yellow motif which is why he opted to blacken the silver rear badges (the "mazda" and "rx7" badges too.

crash:
i've been wondering about how body kits will look in cym as well. i'm torn between wanting a more aggressive look and thinking a yellow body kit isn't going to look as nice as a silver one. fortunately for me, thoe, a body kit isn't in my current plans.

everyone else:

thanks for the compliments! *beams* all the back-breaking detailing has paid off. lol. i

Have you tried just using Dawn dishsoap? It works pretty well and definitely works well for the painted parts anyway. You can use Gunk or other engine-degreasers for the block.
