and another:

Would you believe I got into random streetraces w/a TT supra, worked (and fast) mid-90's Z28, and a TT 300zx w/my rear looking all jacked up like that. I beat 'em all, so they got to take an extended look at my patented "Ghetto Taillight Mod"

Here's a peek at what she looks like now:

Ryan Wolfe did the work, looks awesome. His SN is Rx7even if you want to PM him. He charges 65 bucks, and it was definitely worth it :p

Yup, that's way better than the stock lights.

I've done conversion for forum members as well. It's only $50 bc I just do it for the fun of it.

I definitely recommend everyone to get their lights done.

Rich,

Those ghetto lights had to make your car faster, after all they do reduce weight.

Thats why you got such a good launch. The weight reduction from the tail light mods is unbelievable.

Talking

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, OMG that is the greatest thing I've ever seen! I probably wouldve just bought colored lights and duct taped them up in true ghetto style, but that's pure genius!!!!

i also just did the 99 light conversion (this past weekend) i think i spent $31 for everything -
and DAMN it looks good! if i had a digital camera i'd post pics, but like everyone says, if you haven't done it, you should -

took me 3 hours, start to finish (including waiting for paint to dry)

Here's another pic I forgot to attach:

They didn't really work too well....you can see a lot of white lot around the edges.

Forgot to mention, after driving home from Fort Worth (and racing that 300z TT where I got up to ~150) I got off the highway and was a mile from my house. Never content to leave well enough alone (and cranking Nickelback so the adrenaline was pumpin' :p), I revved her out in first gear under a bridge while changing lanes. And wouldn't you know? Got pulled over. Female cop, though...I used my many charms to weasel my way out of a ticket. She actually laughed at my Ghetto Taillight Mod. I told her it's kinda like the racing stripes on Neons and Type R stickers on Hyundais

What How-to did you use (or did you) and what parts did you have to buy? For $31... I'll get the stuff on the way home and do it sometime this weekend when I'm doing my dash.
TIA

Alright guys, I am still a newbie.

Can you enlighten us what you guys did...and how to do it?

I have to say, I am not sure what my stock tail lights look like lite up, because I have never seen them....

Later,
Patrick

I just found this link in the "Letters in 3rd break lights" thread.
http://mysite.directlink.net/jott/rx...ts/default.htm
Is this what you guys used as a how-to? Did you buy *just* the parts listed and would you offer any other info besides whats on this page (quarks you ran into that are different!?)

Thanks.. Chris

I recently spoke w/Huy (Ninjak on the forum) and he told me that when he tried to do his taillights the other day, he had a mishap with one side in the oven. I'm an advocate of sending 'em off to somebody; they're very easy to screw up, and then you have to buy new taillights, which is quite pricey (like 500 bucks from Mazda maybe?). Ryan's done many of them, so you know it'll get done right the first time.

my 2 cents,
Rich

OVEN!? did he stick them in the oven instead of a heat gun?!... I'm a little confused.
