anyone have any idea why my tach and speedo wouldnt work?

also, the odometer is burnt... ????

WTF? what happened to the odometer? the **** looks toast all together. Try and find a new one.

Looks to me like you had higher than normal voltage in there and it burnt up???

yeah the odometer looks F'd

i'd atleast like to get the tach and speedo working while i have the cluster out. anyone have any tips for me?

you can order a new tacho from Mazda, its like $150 if i remember right, either way you will need to take it and have it install so they can input your correct mileage otherwize if you ever sell your car will might have problems.

the odo is stored in the cluster itself.

i just got this FD and havent registered it due to the tach/speedo/odo problem.

maybe i should just get a good used cluster? but then what do i do about the ODO?

HAHA new tach is like $700. Find the problem first before you ruin another instrument cluster. Something must be shorted. Did you buy the car like this?

the data for the odo, or the mileage reading is stored within the cluster.

So if and when you replace the cluster see if you cant find how many miles are on your car, then take the cluster to a shop and have them input the right info into the new cluster.

yes i bought it from with the broken cluster.

the carfax report verified the miles that were on the car so i wasnt worried about odo fraud when purchased.
