pics of driving / fog Lights
well the stock headlights are pretty bad so what options are there for bright driving/fog lights.
how do the stock fogs perform?
whats good whats not? HID, halogen? and how is the wiring done on fd w/o foglight switch? does it come on with headlights?
post some up!

I am running a Philip 6000k HID kit (i think, I can look it up if you want). They are incrediably bright and are very good for driving. The only problem I have with this kit is I don't have high beams. Honestly you dont need high beems with this kit, but I dont know how tough Cali is with inspections. Most places I have experience with dont really care. If you want some pictures I will take some for you.

Any "new" bulb will likely be better than the original bulbs if you still have them. I still have my original bulbs in, and being 13 years old they are getting dim. haha
The stock foglights barely function as foglights. I consider them more for show.
Suggestions:
1. Aim your headlights.
2. Replace the bulbs (H4) if you are going to keep the stock setup.
3. The Silverstars are a nice option.
4. Try and avoid a plug and play HID system to be kind to the other drivers out there.
5. Consider a set of good auxilliary "driving lights". Keep in mind at night these will likely blind oncoming traffic, but are GREAT on the backstreets If you can find a good set of CATZ driving lights then go for it. Their lights are pretty accurate in terms of their designs with fog lights having a wider beam, versus their driving lights which have a narrower illumination angle. I have a set of their discontinued H4 driving lights and am using an H4 HID system with them, so I expect them to put out ALOT of light at night
CATZ XLD / MSX / XLO / MSR
6. An aftermarket "higher wattage" h4 bulb, but YOU MUST use upgraded sockets and wiring with relays to prevent frying your stock wiring. I had this kind of setup on my old Volvo and it was UNFREAKINGBELIEVABLY bright
7. Aftermarket light kit (sleek with or without HIDs, or the much anticipated (in my mind) 4 light popup kit being currently designed, or one of the MORE expensive JDM kits)
Hope that helps a bit

I'm using the stock fogs as DRLs runnning them through the stock switch so I can turn them off if I want. The best option I found were the Sylvania Silverstars. Pricey, but.....
I tried some higher watt H3s but even though the fuse didn't blow, they made the wires a little warm and I wasn't comfortable with that.

^^^ Good advice but you'd be better off looking for a set of PIAA instead of CATZ. CATZ not doing business in the US anymore. If you are looking for a set of CATZ, I have a set of MSX (oval shape) in excellent condition. No nicks or scratches on the lenses and the harness is brand new.

I have the Sylvania Silverstar bulbs in my car and they are a definate improvement over the stockers. Much brighter and whiter. A good "fix" for those on a budget. I think I paid $35-40 for them.
I also have installed a set of PIAA fog lights to mimick the 99 spec fog lights for my 99 front bumper. I checked into the 99 spec lights but they were way too expensive. Had the PIAAs installed for about $200. I matched the size of them to the 99 specs so they would look right. I have standard bulbs in them (whatever comes with PIAA) and they're very bright. Really light up the road. The PIAAs come with an oval on/off switch that fits perfectly into where the fog light switch would be in the center console. Looks OEM.
Check out my my vb Garage for a pic or two.

I bought about 20 sets of CATZ lights as they were going out of business and have been selling them off, giving them as gifts to my friends over the last 2 years haha.
I personally think the light pattern from the CATZ lights is superior to PIAA, but the fact that they are discontinued sucks I would love to have them readily available in the USA/NA market as I think they are FANTASTIC
The MSX is a great light and comes in either a driving pattern or fog pattern. The difference between the two is very very clear.
