Talking PICS Blacked out Intercooler

i just painted my intercooler black just to draw a lil less attention.... tell me what you guys thinK ... i think it looks meaner and a lil more sleeper like ......no more cops looking at the car and people asking why my radiator sticks out sooo far.. ha ha

......im planing on paiting my exhaust the same way but with hi-temp paint....

picks are before and after ( greddy 2 row ) and then of an engine bay shot ..

let us know if you noticed any difference in air temperature. I think it looks really good, and have been thinking about doing the same thing. What paint did you use?

You might wanna consider hi-temp powder coating the exhaust. I'm not sure the hi-temp paint will last. On the intercooler yes, but on the exhaust? I'm skeptical.

just wondering, what did you paint the intercooler with?

also wont using paint increase the ait by decreasing the effectiveness of the IC? i've heavd of people getting crappy paint jobs and getting overspray on their radiator and their car overheating. An IC works the same way as far as i know.

Let me know how it works out with your AIT's.

well the cars running great and ... i dont really matter much .. ive seen some paint thats suppose to dissapate heat on intercooler ..

so i dont think that painting it will hurt it unless im wrong or someone says other wise ... and for paint to make a radiator over heat it would have to be caked on and covering most of the fins on it ...

I have a present for you guys interested in this. Its a little known trick I learned from a local ceramic coater. Its called BBE from Swain tech (i believe there are other versions). It's like ceramic coating but its a Heat emmitting coating, and its only available in BLACK! Thats right it does the opposite of standard ceramic coating in that it promotes heat loss. Commonly used on brake parts, radiators, intercoolers, etc.

So not only will you increase the efficiency of your IC, but you will get that cool black look you want ;-)
