Picked up my "new" 93 R1 yesterday and have a few questions
Drove down 700 miles to SC to pick it up. Drove it a bit then put it on the trailer and turned right back around to drive home.
Turned out to be pretty much as expected from the owner's description. I also had it checked by a rotary shop out there before deciding to buy it. The scratch in the hood turned out to be a bit bigger than I thought and the tires were trashed but whatever i guess. I still think I got a good deal.
Anyway, I've read through the archives and done searches so I'll only ask the questions I haven't been able to find there.
As I was was driving it around in SC i heard a noise that changed frequency with vehicle speed. It wasn't completely constant though like a bad tooth in the differential would be. It would also stop when I lightly pressed on the brake pedal. It sounded light, like it wasn't a massive part making the noise. Almost sounded like a cv joint in a fwd car.
Today though, it never made a sound...
Any suggestions/tests as to what it is or how I can narrow it down.
My other question is about tire size. The car has 17x9 wheels on it, 225/45s on the front and 235/40's on the rear. From what I've read in the archives a lot of people like to run 235/45's in the front and 255/40's in the rear. Is the handling that much better than just running 235/45s or slightly bigger on all 4 corners? Suggestions?
Thanks,
ray
