Let me guess: Codes 26/27???
I recently replaced my MOP. I started a removal 'how to', but didn't finish. It's pretty lame as it is, but there's a couple of pics that may help you.
Here's a pic of the wiring harness

The wiring placement is different in the plug between years or models. You can correct them by pulling the wire and tab or cutting the wires and swapping them . I know this does not make sense but checking with a meter will tell you if the old and new units will work with a wire change , or just plug and go. Garfinkle found this when repairing a customers car ,so check before installing a different OMP .

does the wiring harness plug into the part near the alternator and another part near the MOP?
here's my prob, in that picture you provided...right beneath the water pump mine is full of butt splices and terribly hacked up connections
my MOP and stepper motor are fine, but I need to replace the wiring...what should I do? i *just* replaced the water pump and reassembled the car...disassembly is not really an attractive option...i'd rather buy a new harness, plug one side in the MOP and related devices and the other side into the harness near the alternator
is that possible?

The plug on the steper motor and the steoer motor are not sold apart from the OMP unit from the dealer. you will need to find a used one with plugs. Or get after market male female plugs and rewire the unit. that is the easy cheap way. the wires must be correctly matched or it will not work , but you know that . go to a electronics store to get a good connector not radio shack junk, pay for a good part .
