Phoenix Emissions

I just had emissions done on my 93 FD. Its basically stock for all intensive purposes. intake, FMIC, DP,CATBACK. It failed CO, spec is 12.00 G/M and it was 12.6 G/M. HC was at .84 to 1.00, and nox was 1.58 to 2.50. And they tested it as a 2 cylinder. The guy even called his supervisor and they assured him that is what the test should be run as. WHat do you guys think??

How old is your catalytic converter? Do you have the air control and related solenoids in and working? Have you checked error codes? Tps set correctly? Could be a lot of things, at least your close. If you want we could do a run through on the car; www.turblown.net

cat is original... air pump is all hooked up, and it runs up until 3000ish rpms... im not sure about the solenoids... I have a code for split air bypass. tps is set correctly. What do you guys charge?

with the other gases reading where they are it doesnt seem like a cat... wouldn't NOX be high?? Since it just barely failed, does it seem like blocking off the purge and pouring a can of injector flush in the tank will do the trick? or does it seem like something is not right?

How many miles on the car/cat? Anything near 50k and I would bet the cat is toast.

If the split air bypass isnt functioning properly that could be your problem as well if no fresh air is getting to the cat. Maybe the valve can go bad, but also the wiring harness could be an issue

High CO is always a sign of incomplete combustion, incomplete burning of all the gasoline (HC) molecules, indicating an over-rich mixture. The richer the mixture, the higher the CO (until it gets too rich that it won't burn then you have no CO produced in that combustion chamber).

I'd go after your ignition side, ie plugs, wires first.
