PFS Air Intake Question
I'm about to install a PFC IC and intake I pieced together from two sellers on the forum. If anyone has install PDF it would be helpful, I'd rather do it right the first time!

The holes are to muffle the "moo" from the airpump. I pioneered a mod a while back with using a chair cap with holes drilled in it to make an "anti-moo" device.
I'll put it this way, you aren't going to blow anything up if you install it wrong. Get in there, figure it out, and you'll be good.

I previously had the petitt intake installed and the "moo" was not a issue, as I track the car fairly regular in the summer I decided to try a true (closed) cold air intake. I'll reseal the side of the rad again before I install the PFS and see how that goes in the coming season and hopefully have cooler air temperatures overall. It's all a live and learn.

Well, I got it all in yesterday the only real issue is the IC is sitting about a 1/2 inch above the chasis brace it's suppose ti fit on to. Anyone else had this problem?
So now I have to figure some way to help support the IC at the bottom so it does not slide up and down under boost. The fitment on this set-up sucks!

Mmmm, I thought it's pretty easy to R & R. I can have mine out in about 5 minutes.
There is a 10mm bolt hole on that crossmember approximately where the the IC foot will set. I used a section of an old belt, drilled a hole through it for a bolt and fastened it there so it wasn't metal on metal. I suppose some clear slicone on that foot would work too. But once I tighten the t-bolt clamps on the inlet and outlets and secure the two 10mm bolts that hold the duct, it's solid as a rock. From what I've seen and from other threads, they ALL fit in there at just a slight angle relative to the front of the car. So if your trying to keep it facing EXACTLY straight ahead, your fighting it. Otherwise fitment is perfect.

Recently my AIT's have jump to 40-50°C++ under general driving conditions, used to be 36-40° C with the same ambient air temps.
Removed and cleaned / reoiled both cone air filters with no change. Coolant temps still good around 82-84°C. Boost seem fine, and vacuum -10 to -25 Hg's
Any idea what to try next to return my AIT's to what I call normal. Would a small leak in the IC possible be the culprit?

How long as it been since you cleaned the IC?
FWIW, I pull my PFS out every spring when the car comes back out to play. A couple of soaks with some dish soap and hot water in a utility sink I have. My twins are original with ~ 120k on them now, but they don't smoke and boost just fine. Still, I usually get some oily emulsion/swamp water coming back out. Nice thing about the PFS is that it's pretty easy to pull and do that occasionally.
My car is similar, but I don't have an airpump/emissions and the AST is deleted. Was driving just the other day with ambients in the mid-90's F. IIRC I read IATs in the low 40's that climbed some in stop and go.

Rxeckless, what kind of ambient temps are we talking about that were getting you 36-40deg AITs previously? I know you said same conditions, I'm just curious for my own reference.
Sgtblue, is that AIT temp with your AI coming into play at all? I find with my SMIC I get mid 40s but any sitting and the car heat soaks and never really un-soaks. Would be nice if AI could help w that.

Last summer same conditions my AIT's never went much above 40° C, yesterday took her out for a spin AIT's were never below 46° C and while driving thru town with lots of lights & traffic I saw 62° C. After that and back on open roads never went back below 48° C. So in other words I'm at least 8-20° C above what I was last summer at this time & temperatures.
By the way yesterday was 34° Celsius or 94° Fahrenheit, also my coolant temperatures never went above 86° Celsius.

Interesting. Your temps now (coolant and intake) are actually what I've got in day-to-day summer driving (high 80s to 90s F and DC humidity) in the two years I've owned my car. By the time the coolant temps are warm IATs are in the 40s and never really get lower. 46 in highway cruising but if stoplights are involved it's kind of a losing battle with gradual heat soak (at least on the stock IAT sensor in the hot UIM). I've got a similar setup, but with maybe a smaller IC (Greddy) and open hot air intakes sucking up engine bay air. So I'd expect you to be a good bit lower but I'm impressed you were in the 30s IAT in summer weather. Very curious to see what resolves this issue for you.
