PFC vs Haltech vs Motec vs Electromotive?

OK I know what Stand alone ECU's do.

That being said...

Whats the DIFFERNCE between the stand alone..
like PFC's, Haltechs, Motec's, ElectromitiveIII, or what
ever??????

From what I understand Haltechs, Motecs and Electro's
enable your car to run more boost 1,2,3 bars.. right?

PFC's can achieve/controll higher boost levels with
1,2,3 bar map sensors, right??

So what makes the Haltechs, Motecs and etc, that much
better to fetch 1-3K more??? What do they actually
do better than the PFC's?? Other than having
a fancy more acccurate O2 sensor???

Thanks

the pfc is like a gameboy...if the others were xbox.

pfc is good for basic bolt ons...thats my opinion..easy to install..a POS to tune.

you can control a LOT more with the motec than you can with the pfc...

i think the pfc only has 120 points of resolution..where the others have much much higher resolution allowing for greater tuning accuracy.

none of the dyno tuners in the area except for xs(***) can do anything with it for me....its hard to find a shop who has tuned one. the maps that they come with are grossly inaccurate...to the point where you can and may lose a motor....maybe getting them from ray at srmotorsports makes a difference...i dunno..my pfc came from xs/rx store.

you will have better luck getting one of the other ecus tuned by on a dyno...most tuners dont even know what the pfc is...trust me...i called every dyno shop in Los Angeles and San Diego.

If you have the money, the MOTEC is the only way to go. There's nothing close that can tune in so many parameters and to the most infinite detail.

From what I've seen and if money was not an option, I would have gone with the Haltech. I don't know enough about the motec and the electromotive, but from opinions of the people who have gone from PFC to Haltech...maybe I should have started higher on the food chain...

Don't forget Datalogit on the PFC.

Hmm maybe I should of gotten a Haltech..
You are refering to the Haltech E6k right?

Just got my PFC a month ago.
I guess I need to find a place that
can tune a PFC, around my area.
Anyone know if KDrotary can
fine tune a PFC??

Thanks gmonsen very well said..

So how are the Halteck and motecs different???
Motecs are significantly more than Haltecs..
Is it worth it?

Questions...

So who are you going to have tune your car?

You should talk to them, find out what they are comfortable working with, and go with that.

Even the worst/cheapest ECU's will do the job if they're set up right by someone who knows what they're doing.

If you are competent enough to tune the car yourself, then it doesn't matter - but then you wouldn't need to ask which ECU to use, right?

(personally, I use Haltech).
