I'll chime in here. Pettit Racing is a great shop. Yes, they are a tad expensive, but I'll tell you right now it was worth it. I have been to their shop and checked the whole thing out. Cameron is an absolute genius. I helped Kandy rebuild a race engine for one of the GT cars, so yes they do their own rebuilding. They're excellent people to deal with and don't mind letting you in the shop and use their tools as long as you want to learn a thing or two. As far as engine quality, man that thing ran like a scalded dog...even at 5~7lbs. I had it down to get tuned and some things happened, but up until then...I could tell it was ready to let loose. I had it on the stock ecu with downpipe, midpipe, catback and it was rigged to hold 5~7lbs <- Cameron's doing's. Beautiful motor.

Ditto,
I track my car regularly with a pettit rebuild, now on its 7th year. Street ported and 48K miles on it and going strong. I also have installed 5 other Pettit built motors in my local area and all are tracked(road course-30 minute full speed sessions with PCA and Audi Club of Am.) All others have 3-5 years and 25K plus miles with no engine related issues to date. Candy does most if not all of the Engine building now at Pettit and it is Done IN HOUSE. Candy and Cam know what it takes for a rotary engine to survive in extreme cases and he charges for what he is building. I have seen the innards of working motors built by other shops and wouldn't even put them into a street car of my own. I'll pay the 1500 dollar premium in a second to have Pettit build my next engine.
