Pettit Racing ASt cap problem

Well guys. I posted a few days ago cos I had an overflow tank issue:

https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/my-overflow-tank-steals-water-623764/

The good point about that problem is that it's only a pettit AST cap problem. I'm now sure about it. The ASt hoses and the overflow tank are in perfect shape. And I'm sure that it's an AST problem cos now my car only has that problem sometimes, and after other hard ridings, the level in my coolant has been perfect!! So it only happens sometimes (the cap is only working when it wants to work)
The problem now is that I don't know where to buy another cap that can be used with the pettit AST. My cap has been bought only 3 months ago, so I'll no trust this cap anymore. So if you guys can tell me where to buy another 0.9 bars that can work in the pettit aluminium AST I'll be very happy. I only have this link, but it's the same kind of cap:

Are you looking for one of these?

http://www.stant.com/brochure.cfm?br...ocation_id=179

If so, the one you need to search for is Boxed - 10329 - Carded - 11329.

couple things.

ive seen several aluminum ast's that actually corroded around where the cap is supposed to seal, thus requireing a new ast

2. we used to sell the stant caps, and about 2 in 5 actually will hold the advertised pressure rating. if you want to buy a mazda cap, use SE01-15-205, or find another cap manufacturer

Thx for the info. In fact my AST has only 3 months, so I hope it's not leaking...

Does anybody know where to buy a 0.9 cap for the Pettit AST without the red plastic piece???

Use Google. You just want a pressure cap without the pressure release lever. Look up the proper one from STANT and then see who is a retailer you can buy one from.

they are standard caps used for domestic vehicles, you can purchase either the lev-r-vent style or the one without the lever in either 13lbs or 16lb ratings at just about any auto parts store.

i have noticed the non lever style from stant is not as prone to leaking as their crappy lev-r-vent ones, i still have no idea why pettit uses those crappy caps on a $180 AST...

also be sure there is no debris in the cap sealing area, any small bits of rubber or deposits can cause the cap to bypass.

i went to napa and i got a new cap for my ast. i've had 2 of those crappy lev-r-vent caps fail on me within months. those vent caps need to die in a fire. just go to an auto parts store with the old cap and they can get you one that will fit without the stupid vent cap. i'm switching to an re amemiya ast so i can use a "normal" size radiator cap, plus i just like his stuff.

Pettit AST have been known to distort around the fill er neck and not provide a good seal. The Pettit AST also use a standard domestic cap and the stock Mazda cap will not work on that AST. You can get a 13 psi. domestic cap at any auto parts store (even Wal-mart, K-mart or any other store with an automotive section) The problem is finding a good domestic lever cap that seals at the listed rating.

and why do you need to stick with a lever vent cap?
