Thumbs down Performance tapering off at higher rpm

As the weather has changed it seems like my upper RPM's are not pulling as much power. I am boosting ok -(.86) but the power seems to be tapering off quickly to the point where I feel like I should shift around 5800 rpm or so. - reminds me of driving a bmw 330 with the low rpm torque but nothing up high.

Is this due to the weather or something else - seems like my other TT cars (supra tt, 300zx tt) haven't had this severe of a degredation with an increase in weather temp.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Mods? If you are running the stock intercooler that's probably the answer right there.

(posted by someone who runs the stock ic and loves it when it is not warm outside)

Hope you've either got a pre-fabbed IC duct (like a Pettit), or fabbed up your own. The pieces that come with the Greddy SMIC are a complete joke.

If you're just using the Greddy stuff, that's part of the problem right there...

Not really sure how to classify a "severe degradation" of upper rpm power. I notice that in warmer weather, my FD (which has mods similar to yours, except I don't have a hi-flow cat, I have a modded stock airbox, and a Pettit ECU instead of a PFC) seems to lose a little snap off the top compared to running in cooler weather, but I wouldn't call it a "severe degradation". I notice a one psi drop in boost above 5000 rpm, but that's about it, and the power loss isn't something I'd call substantial.

However, I do notice that if I've been driving slowly enough to cause heat soak in the IC, it takes a mile or so of highway driving (and maybe a bit more in warmer weather) before the power levels return to "normal".
