I want to see pictures of people who have FMIC set up. I want to see pictures of the engine bay as well as the front end. Every once in a while, I convince myself to get rid of my SMIC and get one so...

is that the 2 row or the 3 row? Do you track your car with it? If so, what kind of water temps are you seeing?

Yup that's the plan.
If so, what kind of water temps are you seeing?
During the current Indiana winter, 85 C (185 F). My first track event with the setup will be March 22 @ Putnam Park Road Course www.putnampark.com I'm not worried about engine temps. I have a huge Koyo rad, high water content coolant (85% water, 15% antifreeze, Redline Water Wetter), and the Apexi Power FC is programmed to kick the rad fans on at 86 C (low speed), and 87 C (high speed). Essentially the fans would be on all the time during the track session. I also had Kim and Dave Barninger enlarge/groove the coolant and oil passages when I had my street ported motor built at KD Rotary. I built the "Speed Sauce Racing" Rx7 with every detail in mind. No worries at all about engine temps.

I'm confident, Speed Sauce Racing Rx7 will kick ***, and will have no issues with heat whatsoever.

FWIW, I think the overheat and FMIC issues are overblown, and the folks that had overheating problems with FMIC were folks that did not pay attention to the details when doing the FMIC setup.

I also believe the biggest nay sayers of FMICs are the SMIC people, who've never even had an FMIC, but heard from a few that FMICs cause engine temp problems.

If you do the research, you'll find that most FD owners with FMIC do NOT have engine temp issues, IF they approached their FMIC upgrades PROPERLY!

These items and mods are mandatory for a good GReddy FMIC setup:

-Koyo Radiator
-High Water Content Coolant and Water Wetter
-Fan Mod or Power FC fan programming
-Modified oil and cooling passages that are enlarged to flow more oil and cooling water through the motor
-Mobil One 15W/50 Synthetic oil (has a higher boiling point than dino)

If you can't do ALL of these things with FMIC, then you "might" have heat-related issues.

Also note that I live in the midwest, where extreme desert heat is not the norm.

I ran my car at Thunderhill without any water temp. problems. FMIC and a Fluidyne radiator. Fans set to come on at 86C. 80/20 mixture with a bottle of Water Wetter. It was pretty cold though. 50-60F temps that day. Not sure how I would have done in the summer.

FWIW, I ran my car with my current set up at thunderhill with water temps around 86-88 C, in january, in the summer I got it up to around 95-97C with the SMIC. I wonder how much a FMIC will add?

does anyone have the blitz FMIC? Which FMIC has the best flow to the radiator?

is cooling better when the radiator is in the stock slanted position or mounted vertically like most japanese ones?

hey victor have you looked into those horizontal mounted IC....kinda wished i didn't put in the koyo and just get that combo from the rotary extreme....

hey jr, how did you cut off the rebar so clean? did you just use a dremel and cut it rough first, and then grind off the excess that was still welded on?

and with the stock radiator, do you get any cooling issues at all?

Silicone O-rings. I haven't read about that one. Dave Barninger says Water Wetter is just insurance. It certainly doesn't hurt anything. Kim and Dave Barninger built my motor, so I tend to believe them rather than some of the BSers that post on this forum

Looks like a custom job. In my biased opinion, the Japan Domestic Market IC kits are the best. Clean welds, superb fit and finish. I'm partial to the GReddy, since it performs best with the Koyo, and looks GREAT (you know--the bling bling factor)

This is like the Dexcool versus conventional silicate-containing anti-freeze controversy, right?

The key is to NOT mix Dexcool with conventional antifreeze due to possible aluminum corrosion from the reaction that takes place between the additives. The reaction by-products also eat the water seals.

Truth is. Once you start with conventional anti-freeze, you cannot switch to Dexcool.

Vice-versa--if you start with Dexcool, you can NOT switch back to conventional anti-freeze.

Somewhere along the way, Dexcool became bad for rotaries, right?

This is the same BS that's going on with the FMIC and SMIC debate.

A few FMIC-equpped FDs overheated, and suddenly FMICs are bad for rotaries.

Get a grip, folks!

Remember the game we played as kids called, "Telephone". One kid sends the message, and the message moves down the line (20 kids or so). By the time the last kid gets the message, it's not the same as the original message anymore.

The highest I was seeing all day was about 95C after a 20min. session. Usually after the front straight.
