Passing emissions on a simplified sequential FD
Wondering if you can pass emissions on a simplified sequential Twin turbo FD. Being rather new to FD's I am looking at an FD for sale with what I am being told is a simplified sequential turbo. Can this car pass emissions? Still has an Airpump installed.
thanks,

Usually "simplified sequential" means the emissions solenoids have been removed. The only solenoids left are the ones to control the sequential system.
That said, it really depends on how wacky your emissions are. California is REALLY hard to get cars to pass emissions, some that just have a tailpipe sniffer test really just need the airpump and a good cat to pass just fine.
Seeing as how you've had a high horsepower car at some point, I'm assuming you're no stranger to turning a wrench. That said, if you need to put some of the emissions equipment like the air control valve or something back on, I'm sure you can handle it. If the previous owner cut all the plugs off for the emissions stuff from the harness, you'll have a LOT of work or have to get a new ECU harness to fix it.
But, if you just need to do a quick and dirty pass, there are ways you can just rig the air pump up to the main cat, get it good and hot, and pass no problem. Read up on it, there's tons of threads on emissions.

Thanks for the response. No stranger to turning a wrench just wondering how much I should pay for these cars especially with emissions being the headache they are. We have the two step idle test. I don't think he cut the harness but in ky mind a new harness would be mandatory just in the look of two of my previously remove harness. Amazing brittle from heat especially if the car saw prolonged lapping etc. Ate you going to DGRR this year? Saw you there last year.
