Unhappy Parking Brake Doesn't Click & Lock

Hey Guys,

So my parking brake recently stopped working, when I pull it up I feel a lot of resistance but it doesn't click and lock in place, it just drops right back down regardless of how hard I pull up.

What do you think the problem could be & how can I fix it?

thanks!

Searched???

OP,

What research have YOU done to see if this has been discussed before? Given that this is a 20+ year old car, do you think this is the first time something like this has been discovered?

I think you will find FD owners pretty helpful as long as you are willing to put in some work yourself.

Have you looked in the Factory Service Manual (FSM)?

Have you read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)?

In a quick "search" of the forum, here is what I found:

Sounds like your brake needs to be adjusted; however, may be too old and stretched too far to adjust back into spec. May need to be replaced.

I've been around the forum for a few years and never heard of this...

OP did it work previously and just stopped working? When you pull the lever up does it still engage the brakes? sounds like it needs to be adjusted (theres a screw on the right side of the ebrake if you pull the cover it, tighten it some and try it again... if not it may be your cable.. if so pm me i have a few spares if you need one...
