Question Paint Problems

94 VR stock w/42,000 miles

I sure this has been talked about, but I am fairly new to the forum and would like some input regarding my paint, or a thread that I could follow.

My 94 VR is excessively prone to getting tiny chips in the paint. I bought this car 2 & 1/2 years ago with 20,300 miles for $16,500 in perfect condition but have been extremely dissapointed with the paint chipping problem.

Anyone else have this problem and was it a common problem. Love the car but dissapointed in the paint.

I know this was a problem with the 93's, but the 94 is also 9 years old itself. Maybe it's just normal aged paint. Did you find out from the owner how well the car was kept, where it was stored during winters/other types of weather, and how often it was buffed and other things?

Lady owner, garage kept and mostly used on weekends.
Paint has good gloss, has held up well except for these tiny chips, mostly on the hood. I wax 4 times per year but do the touch up thing before waxing. Unfortunately it is starting to be noticable.
p.s. the primer underneath is white

will repaint but disappointed in a car with so few miles that cost $38K new and a lousy paint job.

This is common. I thought it was mostly with the 93's, but I guess some later ones have the same problem. I'm in exactly the same boat as you: 22k miles and quite a few chips, but mines a 93, so I knew what I was getting into. Looks great from a distance though - people still ask me if its new.

I get that too, even with my poor 93' paint. Some people the other day thought it was a 2000+ model. They flipped when I said it was a 93. lol
