Paint options for SMIC

Hi All,

I am planning to refinish my Blitz SMIC to fill in the logo and paint the upper end tank black to make it a little more stealth and avoid California smog check inspection problems. I am wondering about a good paint to use that is durable for the application, any suggestions for a stockish look?

Thanks in advance!

Get the end tanks powdercoated flat black. Otherwise any good engine paint like VHT should work.

Big trick with painting aluminum is prep work. Paint doesn't want to stick to polished aluminum at all. I would sand it down to 320 grit or so, clean the hell out of it, spray clear adhesion promoter, then the paint.

Thanks for the advice, I will be sure to clean the metal very well. I would go the powder coat route, but I need to fill in the "Blitz" script (with JB weld), I 'm not sure that would hold up well in the powdercoat oven.
