Dale Clark has a good write up on painting the calipers. He just used regular Testors model paint:

I used this write-up too. I'm very happy with the results and looks professional-looking paint with these Testor model paint for a fraction of the cost! My paint is still holding up fine w/o any signs of paint wear/fading. I heard others did the same process and after 2 years, still looks great.

Cool, actually I was planning on painting them this weekend. Not sure what color to use though. Stock rims on a VR FD.

I used the Duplicolor caliper paint kit(comes w/ brake cleaner, masking tape, brushes, and enough paint to probably do 3 cars). Kit comes in red, blue, black, silver, yellow and maybe some others not too sure. I would suggest buying some better brushes as the included ones fall apart easily. Used Testor model paint for the mazda logo... works ok but not the best.

This has held up great for almost two years, I had always used Castrol wheel spray to clean off my rims... well one day I ran out of cleaner and all they had at the store was some Armor All wheel ****... it ended up messing up the caliper paint, should've know better than to use anything from armor all. I may repaint them, may just get them powder coated and done right, or may just buy a big brake kit.

I had mine powder coated red (as close to VR as possible). I had my calipers apart for rebuilding, new seals etc. so figured it ewas a good time to paint. The "MAZDA" is polished and clear coated. They have held up from two years so far of racing, tracking, autoxing

My testor paint is just as thick and vibrant as your duplicator painted calipers here shown. Very nice rims BTW. For my MAZDA logo, i just used my bud's rotary tool and sanded away...nice and smooth polished finish.

I painted mine black using some caliper paint from A&A. I tried that testor's model paint, but ended up taking it off and using the spray on stuff because it gave a much nicer finish. I also polished down the mazda logo on the front calipers. The black goes with my MB and looks very clean.

I have some pics here.

i used testors paint and have had no problems, and I too just sanded the paint of the mazda logo, looks good but need another coat, i was in a hurry when i did them. will be doing that when the new rims come in, but the testors paint has not faded chiped or anything, and it was 4 dollars with 2 brushes at a craft store.

I also used the Duplicolor Paint Kit. I don't think I have a close-up of them with my ASA AR1 wheels on but here's a pic I took the day after I painted mine with the stock wheels:

Not a very good pic cause the lighting sucked, but oh well.
