Packing Bearings

I just changed my brake pads...is it necessary to repack the bearings in the hub? Someone metioned it to me and I didn't know a thing about it.

Hey Ryan, any chance you could get me the PMC maps that are the 300, 330 and 380 settings? The ones that PFS programs.

The fd Whee brgs are a sealed unit you have to remove the entire hub to repack them - it is easy to do when you are changing the rotors - you should REPLACE the hub nut instead of reusing it. They run $5.25 ea from Mazdaformance.

On any car..

I repack the bearings with new grease every time I change the rotors. If possible.

The bearings are sealed so they are non servicable.

Otherwise Rikki on other types of cars (like FCs) they should be cleaned and packed periodically. If not it is sorta like only changing the oil after the engine goes bad.

How many miles? I think when the bearings go bad is when you should touch them IMO.

I have done a front wheel brg. replacement on My fd. The bearings, while permantly pressed into the hub and sealed on the outside, are NOT sealed inside and can be repacked.
