Overcooling?

Okay I can't seem to figure this out! I have a fluidyne radiator with evan's coolant in a 0psi system, and my temperature never seems to reach above 1/10 of the way up! At idle in traffic, it will sometimes reach about 3/10, but usually not. I figured it was the thermostat, which I replaced this last weekend, and that's not it either. I know the stock coolant sensor and gauge aren't that great, but still...is there anything else it could be?

Any input is appreciated. Thanks!
Allen

What are your mods?

I'm thinking your coolant gauge isn't reading correctly.

Well it *used* to work correctly...the gauge itself could be off by that much? I figured it would be a working/not working thing at least, but I suppose not...

Engine mods:
M2 DP, HFC, RB CB, M2 StageIII ECU, M2 Med. IC, Fluidyne Rad, AST removed

Steering colunm gauge pods, mickey mouse gauge pods, or over the center dash gauge pods.

Update: I replaced the temp sender with a new unit from Mazdatrix, and everything works perfectly again ("perfectly" meaning "working as the stock gauge should be which is really really poor")

Thanks for the input guys!

Now that your stock temp gauge is operating correctly it is the perfect time to "linearize" the gauge so it can be useful for monitoring your engine temperature:

The stock gauge is crap, linearize or just buy a temp gauge. I'd go with the latter.

I linearized mine. Now it gives me information! No longer just dashboard decoration. You do have to be cool about it rising and falling though. Don't panic! Trust in the force ;-).

If you want to stay that cool, talk to Art (I can't remember his screen name) in KC. He has problems keeping his car warm with his set up.

well, I don't know if I want it that cool, I just want to have that kind of cooling power. It would be nice to know that no matter how much you are on the throttle or heatsoaking in traffic your car isn't going to overheat.
