Outcome? E46 M3 on bottle vs my FD.

Can anybody predict the outcome of this race?

E46 M3 w/ 150 shot , 4.3 gear with bolt-ons. Dynoed around 415 rwhp 3200 lbs

My 94 FD, full bolt-ons 13.5 psi around 350rwhp stock seq. twins

I think he will walk me about 1-2 cars from a 60ish roll...

But we shall see.

I think he traps around 115mph in the 1/4, and a full bolt-ons 350 rwhp fd should trap around 116 ish..

i take it his dyno is without the gas.

In which case he will run you no problems on the bottle.

Off the bottle? itll be pretty even.

E46 M3 is 333bhp factory, so I was assuming the 415whp was on the bottle.

Your car probably isn't at 350hp at 13.5psi and won't trap 116.

More like 327-330hp and 109-110 trap.

My $$ is on
the M3, by about .3-.4 sec.

Guys, E 46 M3 dynoed around 280 ish rwhp stock, and they weight around 3450 lbs. This guy has all bolt-ons and on 150 shots which put the car around 415 rwhp and with lots of weight reduction, his car is around 3200 lbs.

I trap around 110 mph in the 1/4 a while back when my car only dyned around 270 ish with just cat back, dp and intake. So my trap shoud be aroudn 116 ish with my current setup.

I guess it would be a good race, just don't start from 60mph, that's just silly. Go from 40mph, FD's are known for a very good second gear, and most of my "str33t r4c3r" friends say that a 60mph roll is pretty high to be starting from.

From a 60ish roll is the sweet spot for third gear. It might be close, but you'll win.
Also, reejevx7 is wrong, you would run about 116 or higher - he probably did not see that you have a large-streetport.
And the problem with running on the bottle is that it is inconsistent. RWHP will vary by 10-30hp depending on bottle temp/press.

Go race him,
the -7- can't lose!

I knew a guy that had an M3 Competition Model with all the bolt-ons, and it was pretty quick. Add a 150 shot of nitrous, an that could get pretty interesting.

I raced him with bald tires, and he jumped the gun, so it wasn't much of a race at all. Anyway, I'm interested to hear the outcome.

Should be a good race, but having dealt with M3s in the past myself, I think the German motorcar will prevail.

I agree. I raced a full bolt-ons E46 M3 at the drag strip couple years back, I would always win by a hair. He would trap around 107-108, and I would trap around 109-110. All I had was intake, dp, and cat-back around 270ish rwhp.

I raced my buddys E46 Competition model M3 awhile ago, took him everytime like it was nothin, but his car was stock and mine dynos 280 and weighs a bit less than stock. Good luck I think you might be able to win, damn that Nitrous!

I lost with him on the bottle, 3 times. His M3 is no where near stock. He has headers, full exhaust, chips, 4.1 gear, and only weights 3160 he claims. He dynoed around 310 rwhp all motor and 420 ish with 150 shots. It was a very very nice car, but I would put 50 shots in that motor, but was just me. I rapped him when he was off the bottle, those Nitrous does wonders I tell ya...

Hey good try though. At least you can be confident in knowing that if you had spent 20 grand in mods on YOUR car you'd be faster than that

Yeah thats why I hate that nitrous, its the only thing the pistons have to take out the rotary weight advantage!

yes, my last motor has a mild street port, with intake, dp and cat back, it puts down 267 to the wheels.
