Optima Yellow Top D51 and D51R go the way of the Dodo.

I have been searching for an Optima Group 51R battery for a while, and was told by Optima that they would be releasing more at the end of April. Well, I spoke with them on the phone today and they have decided to discontinue the Group 51 and 51R due to quality concerns.

I know many people use this battery, especially with the Turbo Jeff tray.

Moderators, feel free to move if desired.

 

If that's the case Optima should close up shop for good. I've had a 66% defective rate with them.

 

I just got one last week at the local Sears, so you might wanna check and see if they have any in stock.

 

I heard form an Advance Auto manager that they were hit hard during the last hurricane and had suspended all yellow top production for a while. So who knows? I have an orange top, with the poles in the correct postion for our cars. I have had it over a year now and no problems. Works great, but I had to special order at Advanced.
