Opinions : Best sounding Cat Back

I know there is no "Best sounding" b/c everyone has there own taste. But Im looking for something that makes the car sound good. Not shatter windows, or sound like a baseball card in bike spokes. I want something that will make it noticable that Ive gotten on the gas without overpowering the sound of a low flying jet. A nice growl...theres no way to explain it I guess. I was thinking of the M2 Dual. Seems like someone said it flows great with a melow but distinct sound. I dont want a bee fart on crack that echos off buildings. Hondas.... (*shutter*)BBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAA PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP! "Drone free under cruise conditions... Emits a sonorous bark under hard acceleration" Something to that measure. Im not too worried about the "drone" under cruise conditions...i would love it to sound like my buddys 600 Hp 300zx...kinda like a muffled outboard engine, but I know that cant happen. Well you get the idea. Let your opinions fly. Thanks for any sudgestions. Oh and if you have any sound clips please post em or send em to my E-mail.

If there is any way to make it sound like a viper sign me up....the sweet sound of 500hp is too much.

Any thing close to making an FD sound like that????????????

I just a Blitz NURSPEC cat back to go with my petitt ss downpipe. Sounds nice when i'm cruising. Pretty throaty...not much drone...and it sounds like an all out race car under WOT. I love it. I wonder how it will sound with a MP.

just my .02

hp does not determine sound.

I'm a little disappointed in my N1 Dual, though with silencers they sound nicer (lower, throatier and MUCH quieter). I did not like my Blitz Nur Spec when I had it, but now that I have the N1 Dual - I prefer the Blitz more (again, with a silencer).

However, once you've heard a 3 rotor - none of the cat-backs for the 2 rotors will satisfy. I've been playing my copy of Revspeed Rx7 Special - where the black 20B FD comes screaming around the corner - over, and over, and over, and over.....

The N1 Dual (silenced) will stay on until one day I can afford a conversion...
:p

Does anyone have the HKS exhaust that RX7store sells? They have two models, the turbo, and the hyper.

They are both less expensive than the others, I am just wondering if there is something bad about them?

Like how they sound or something?

Thanks,
Patrick

anyone who has seen one will agree, that the best looking CBs are the N1 line up because how they contour with car. I haven't heard others. But I love the sound of My Apex N1 Single, I have open exhaust and it isn;t that bad, plus if you do have to go to the golf coarse, just slap the silnecer on. no big deal.

RB, PE, too quite if you ask me.

I'm pretty happy with my BLitz exhaust. With my Pettit DP it sounds pretty low and grumbly. When you get on the gas it becomes loud, but loud in a sense that it makes people turn they're heads and think "hmmm...I bet that car is fast" as oppose to "Damn dude, get a muffler." Its also full stanless steel. I've been told that the apex units only have SS mufflers only, and its only $350.

I have a borla. I like it because it keeps the car relatively quit. I have straight thruogh exhaust and its still quiter than my friends apexi n1 and all he has is the catback. only problem is its only 2.5 inches...I know that sucks-i got it before i got my rex and didn't know any better. still happy I have it though because i couldn't deal if my car gave me a headache.

I have a FD with a Greddy down pipe, a high flow cat and Greddy cat-back.

If you have a unported motor this is in my opinion the best sounding. Its quiet enough cruising around, good base and not very raspy at all. Under WOT its very impressive sounding as well.

Unfortunately, after I street-ported my engine it added a bit of a tinny higher pitch more raspy sound to it. I wish there was a way to get the original sound back.

Also, I would guess that if you aren't running cat's or some sort of pre-silencer this setup is going to be too loud for the street.

btw in LA, CA where I live I've got 3 tickets since I ported it for 'loud exhaust'.

The exhaust I have on my car now is the HKS Super Dragger. You know, the one with the 5" tip? Even though I'm changing it out...it doesnt sound that bad, pretty good actually. Pretty mellow when cruising and at idle, reeeeeaaaalllllly beefy at WOT.

IMO the best sounding exhaust for the FD is either Tanabe Gpower Medallion, or HKS Hiper Titanium.

The Tanabe is really mellow. Very very nice idle tone, and really nice WOT. Not very loud at all. And as for the Hiper Ti...well, what can you say about a 4" straight pipe?? badass.

Hey, I hear so much about the M2 duals. I was just wondering what u guys think of the M2 single cat back exhaust. I was checking out the M2 website and the home page has an fd with the single tip exhaust. I thought right when i saw it that it was one of the best looking exhausts for the fd. Now i'm wondering how it sounds. Anyone???

What about the new HKS that RX-7 store sell?

Anybody got the New* HKS Hiper Carbonfiber Exhaust System, the one selling for $510 at RX-7 store? It looks great, don't know about the performance and the sounds though.....
