What is the condition of the rest of the car. Mods or stock? seem like hes asking too much. I have seen cars with around 45K miles go for around 15,500 on ebay recently.

IF it's as solid as you say....offer 14k and meet him somewhere in between. Put the difference into a maintenance fund and add ~$50 @ month. If you've been reading, you know why.

i would offer 13 nd negotiate from there because i bought mine with 41000 miles on it in mint condition and i only paid 13500 so he is def asking a little bit to much. I would negotiate and def drive it home because it is a blast.

Yeah I hate to say but that does sound like a little too much especially if it's still on the original engine and/or doesn't have a bunch of mods already. Really up to you though how much you think it's worth... if its a really clean car in perfect shape with clean title then maybe as those are getting harder and harder to find by the day.

Doesnt hurt to go take a look at it, find out all the issues it may have in person... if you have any doubt that it wont make the 3hr drive back home then it's probably not worth anywhere near $14 or 15k

I would start off with an offer of the 15k minus the amount for the re-build. Take someone with you that knows about these cars and have him look it over and, go from there.

he wanted 15,900....i told him 14,900 ....i did drive it runs good doesn't leak anything, said he just replaced the rear main seal in the *** end was drippin, said the compression test was done and came back 95 all around...some rx7 shop in columbus did it....

only thing that worries me is that its the original motor....most of you guys that ive read rebuilt your motors by now...
i talk to a guy out at my local track bought his rx7 off ebay and says he's running 14lbs of boost on the original motor with 107,000 on it....

im getting the money together and going to go back up this sat. and drive it again he has a lift in his garage ,might tell him to put it up and take a look underneath...
anything major i should check ?....besides the basic under car $#!t...

and the only other thing i heard a tick or clunk from the front end when he back the car out the garage, had the wheel cut all the way.....only heard it that one time ...sounded something like a tie rod...???
