who makes a decent overflow tank? mine is cracked - apparently that was the mysterious coolant leak the PO couldn't find.

I don't know of an aftermarket overflow tank. Either repair yours, buy a used one, or buy one from Malloy Mazda (ask for Ray Crowe -- 1-888-533-3400).

The tank you pictured looks more like an aftermarket Air Separation Tank (AST) than an overflow tank, since it seems to take a pressure cap. Overflow tanks on FDs are not pressurized. Which tank are you referring to?

Do you need the overflow tank (plastic tank on the front passenger side of the engine) or the AST which in stock form is attached to the intercooler?

If it's the AST, the common replacement is this one:

http://www.rx7store.net/category_s/63.htm

Since it's RX-7 specific, it already has a mount on it so you don't have to worry about fabbing up some way to put it in the engine (like you would some of the generic ones).

The car has a Petit Racing AST, Petit Racing cold air intake kit, & Permance Rotary radiator and intercooler.
Just for the record I have read the FAQ, done a search, and looked through the archives and didn't find much useful info on the subject.

The pic is of a one size fits all kind of thing I spotted on JEGS.com and they called it a recirculating overflow tank
