Only one intake runner coated with oil. Probable causes??

Recently got my first FD. First thing I noticed it smokes (light blue)if I rev it high at while the car is at standstill . However, at low revs it does not somke or very little.

I happened to pull off the UIM and found that the intake runner closest to the fire wall was very oily. The three others were dry. Do you think this assiciated with the smoking problem?

If the the rear rotor was the source of the oil should not both runners leading to the rotor be oily?

I already removed the PCV hose to the UIM.

Please assist in diagnosing the problem.

I think it is due to the air flow. The air flow goes through the intake system and then hits the 90 degree turn just before the throttle body. B/c the oil is heavier than the air, it will accumulate on the back of the surface - i.e. the rear intake runner closest to the firewall.

Start looking upstream. When you no longer find any oil, you have found your leak. Chances are there will big pool of oil in the bottom of your intercooler and your turbos are leaking. Good Luck.

Brand new turbo installed. Oil does not go past the TB.

Its only in the LIM and UIM center rotor runner. Its a 20B by the way.

No pvc, crank case vented to atmosphere, but that is a great guess

I am thinking it might be from only running on two rotors because of fouled plugs. Another forum member pointed this out.

No OMP, fuel is pre-mixed.

Extra strange. I would start looking forward more in the intake system. Check intercooler pipes and such. Make sure nothing is comming from the turbo, new or not. I have seen new turbos with bad seals before. If it is a ball bearing turbo make sure that you have the right size restrictor on the oil feed line. If standard bearing no worries. Also make sure that your oil return line is free of restriction.
