Interesting note about the PFS exhaust: although I don't particularly care for the looks of the exhaust, it has never come close to melting or burning anything on the back of my car. A lot of the canister style exhausts melt the rear bumper.

personally the exhaust that i think sounds the best is the pettit.

I have an n1 dual...it sounds tough but its INcredibly loud and it will melt the bumper a lot. I wont ever buy another apexi product after what Ive dealt with.

Was the JIC Bullet one of the exhausts that will burn, smoke and leave black marks at the edge of the rear bumper?

My racing beat dual with full open exaust sounded really nice.........then I went non-seq. As much as I love non-seq, I must say now my car is loud and sounds like ***. This is wiht RB dual, a "quiet" system.

If you have a midpipe, it won't matter what exhaust...

NO. Boost creep is not cause by a bad boost controller or not having a Aftermarket EMS.

the RB or M2 Duel Tips will be the quietest exhausts, but with an open system mp,dp it will still be noticeably louder at WOT, it actually sounds mean as f-ck. The cansister exhausts are loud no matter what. You basically can't flog it around town without being heard blocks away (literally). Also, i dont' think the RB or M2 Duel tips will make any noticeablly less hp unless you have a crazy turbo setup or something.

Van, I have a midpipe, and have literally no melting of my bumper. I get the typical exhaust soot build up every couple of months, but that just wipes off with some degreaser. The PFS tip is a good 3 or 4 inches away from the plastic underbumber, so unless mine is just spectacular, I don't think the PFS will melt the bumper. I much rather prefer the look of the apexi gt exhaust, or the sound of the RB dual, but this was cheap.

You lucky dog you! I'm guessing that the tip of the PFS exhaust is what is saving your bumper. I've had about every exhaust system on my car at one point, and all of them burned my bumper.

That's the main reason (besides finances) that I still have the PFS exhaust. I would hate to have my tail melt.

The Greddy exhaust on my car sounds awesome. Yes it is loud but a deep rumble(not loud at idle). Maybe beause of my 4 inch dp and the port.

but to answer the question, the tanabe g-power medallion is hands down the deepest, best sounding, you don't want none of this, cb system.....well, it was when my car was running. when back on the road, i'll be running a dp, and resonated mp due to limited obnoxiousness tolerability. lernedd dat werd in skoull scikologee klass.
i have a rb dual abd love it..but i have to agree about the sound of the tanabe.....i heard one wth the stock cat in place and absolutely loved it...very mellow but very exotic and sporty...get it.

not to offend anyone but those coffee can tips are just a joke..dont put that on a nice rx-7.
Also note that any exhaust with mp is going to be loud for the street

The Greddy SP exhuast isn't a canister, and it looks pretty damn nice. Thats probally the setup im going to go with. It has a deep tone to it, not too loud.

I have the Racing Beat single tip exhaust and it sounds great. I dont think there is any difference in flow. The note isn't loud, but at WOT it sounds good, and when the 2nd turbo kicks in it sounds GREAT!

but i think i have a clogged CAT or Pre-CAT...thats a whole different story though

never hear people referring to quiet and n1 in the same sentence
i agree! 2 of my friends w/ apex exhausts are loud as all hell 1 has a midpipe though.
If you have a midpipe, it won't matter what exhaust...
no **** even w/ a stock exhaust the midpipe will make it LOUD maybe not as much at low rpms but who drives at low rpms anyway.

personally i love my TANABE RACE MEDALLION exhaust. it's nice and deep and at high rpms it's not so loud that it's annoying. it also got a 3"SS downpipe and never used the silencer. it didn't make a big difference in sound but the midpipe will.

Personally I think the PFS catback has the best sound and looks. Also, on the fitment and the finishes as mentioned above.

PFS is hard to beat:

Resaonable price, Superior workmanship and fit, Excellent sound and not as loud as canisters, The lightest out there 18 lbs or so (except for exotic stuff w/ CF or Tit.). Looks fairly conservative.

I've got my HKS Hiper on. It sounds great. I've got both cats still on the car. I don't know what kind of difference that makes besides making it louder when you put in a dp/mp, but right now, I'm happy with my investment. 3" piping and great sound/quality. $329 from the store. If any of the comparable exhausts are any better, I'm sure it'd be such an insignificant difference that the extra money would not be worth it. I think it depends on the set up you decide to run too. I wanted to change my cat back, so the sound of the exhaust itself changed with my switch. On the other hand, I've been around some other 7's with different set ups. Dp, Mp, and 3.5" cannister cat back....sounds like a twin turbo lawnmower with fast reving capabilities. That's with the baffle installed. I imagine it'd attract too much attention if he took it out. I'd rather have a cat and quality exhaust sound than have a mid pipe and live with a stinky, ridiculously loud system. If I was on the track every week, it'd be a different story, but I'm on the street. I'll compromise those top sigmas for a better streetable car any day. That's just my opinion though. Good luck.

I've got the Apex'i GT Spec cat-back with 3" dp/mp. VERY loud, but not ricey sounding. And yes, this does give some major boost creep, but I found if you stuff that nice little silencer they give ya in there, it'll keep the creep to a minimum. Only bad thing is, you spend all that money on big exhaust to run it through an inch and a half hole. Just thought I'd add that.
