Question One last thermo switch question

My understanding was that the FC switch was a direct plug and play replacement for the FD part, but the connector doesn't seem the same at all

The S5 FC switch is p n p. It’s been too many years but that doesn’t even look like the Miata switch...or any Mazda OEM connector I’ve ever seen. I don’t think that will even seal properly.
Where did you get it?

That looks like the one that Pettit Racing sells. it's not plug and play, does require a new connector.

The FC thermo switch that IR Performance gave the part number for is plug and play. It's from Mazda.

Sadly, this is what I suspected. I'll have to sort out a return and getting the correct part.

It's one of those "you can rig that connector to plug in" - I wouldn't call it plug and play. Only advantage there is it's cheaper than the OEM part and it kicks on at 85 degrees C rather than 97 degrees C.

You can either cut the existing connector off and put a matching parts store crimp-on connector on it or remove the red plastic around the connector on the fan switch and push it into the connector.

You could also return it but that's a pain.
