OMG WTF Gas on my FD!!!!!

Ok soo, the past couple of days I have been smelling gas when walking out to my car (right hand drive) and the smell is gone as soon as I drive away and never returns untill I walk back to my apt. Well Today I was getting ready to gas her up and looked under the hood and all was good untill....dun dun dun, I looked to the left of my car and seen a horrific sight. There was gas, or oil, or wtfever it is all over my fuggin white FD. I have taken plenty of pix and it turns out it came from a small box owned by our upstairs neighbor. Don't know how or what happened but the fluid is all over the ground, their car, the other neighbors van and my precious. The owner of the box is not home ATM and I left a note asking for them to come see me, but Damn Its alot of gas er whatever it is and my car is white and its on my rims and my brakes and all over. The wife is calling the MPs to file a report (put a hold on that to see if the neighbor will be more cooperative w/out the authorities involved.) and the neighbor with the van doesnt care cause they are PCSing in two months and leaving their van. So I am turning to you guys, what should be done and how should I go about this?

R u kidding?!

That is far from important right now? But thx n e ways. For more info: the fluid is pretty much ON my car it seems as though it happened much earlier today, its now 8pm sun. The neighbor returned and I saw him speaking with the neighbor who owned the van... a lil later I seen him outside trying to take pics of lord knows what but he looked lost. Soon after he called me stating he rang my door bell but obviously thats not true because Ive been here the whole time watching him. He thinks "it may be vandalism or something cause the splatter all over and in different directions and theres a hole in his tank and blah blah bull ****." Its his wifes bday and they are going out and when he returns he said we can contact security forces and look at our options. Right now I am getting pretty fuggin annoyed and not to mention I have to work in the am and unlike him I dont have another car (his fugged up skyline w/ a headlight out that he just drove his prego wife in while its dark) C'mon fellas aside from the scythe BS some input would be appreciated like can I drive this thing right now?

Has it occured to you yet that, perhaps, you should wash your car and carry on? You've already got photo's, there is no need to leave the stuff on your car.

I can't see your pics (gov't computer systems here block Photobucket) but I'm having trouble feeling sympathy. You seem to be content to whine about your problem, instead of fixing it!

Agreed wash your car and then see if you still have a problem.

Unless you come up with an alternate plausible explanation, vandalism is defiantly credible and that is how the authorities will see it.

Do your homework, fluid mechanics are very simple. Hopefully you took some photos with all of the cars “in situ” (Original location at time of incident) this will help back any arguments.

I live on an Air Force base in a peaceful and family area at that, I mean I'm sure there is vandalism by some drunk soldiers or angry locals every now and then OFF POST, but puncturing someones gas tank and or pouring and spraying gas/oil on peoples cars. I mean c'mon who the fug does that, let alone to a beauty like mine. Not to mention, I'm curious as to why the neighbors being evasive.

Bored military brats.

Since the "damages" occured while your vehicle was parked on base the base is required to provide compensation for any perminant damages, as per regulations.

Since the same thing happened to multiple vehicles, not just your own, the base authorities will not be able to write it off as a singular incident which occured due to your own irresponsibility (my car was broken into on Naval Station Norfolk back in '05 and roughly $2,000.00 worth of stereo equipment and personal goods were stolen. Because I wasn't able to "prove" they broke into my car (aka - broken window) the base never reimbursed me, claiming I must have left my door unlocked, so therefore it was my fault..) and everything should work itself out.

If need be take a trip over to your legal office, let them know what has happened, and ask them for advice in getting your ducks in a row.

Submit an official report, but try to solve the issue at the lowest level possible, escalating the pressure/seriousness only as absolutely necessary.

It looks like the guys tank leaked onto the ground and possibly a rain storm or wind blew the resultant melted asphalt all over the place. I'd go to the local auto parts and get some bug/tar remover and start working on your car to get that off. Otherwise paint may suffer in the end.

Welp, special forces can by and they were absolutely dumbfounded as well. They had no logical explanation as to why the fluid is all over the cars and they said vandalism of such a unexplainable level is a lil' farfetched. The owner of the box, turned on his car and said his gas needle went right down...duh...it came from your fuel tank. My theory is a small needle width punture or crack was in his fuel tank and started to spray around noon and when i returned from subway @1 my car got sprayed as i drove in my parking space. For there is no fluid in the area of my parking spot. I don't know basically they couldn't do shi and there is no way to blame him, even though there is a huge puddle under his fuel tank and all under it, for he started the car and no fluid dripped or sprayed and I'm just SOL. IDK WTFever I guess.

*Security Forces (SF on normal Air Force base are NOT their SOF guys, SF are the rejects who are only really qualified to check I.D.'s at the gate. Competence is rare with them I've found..)

And like I said before... if need be you can swing by base legal to review your options. Since damages occured to your personal property while on base the base is obligated (required) to provide compensation if perminant damage occurs.

Again, if you're more interested in whining about how you're car is messed up then actually fixing the problem at hand then I have no sympathy for you.

And I'd follow Badddrx7's advice with the bug/tar remover. Hell, they may even have it at the gas station on base (we had it at the AF base I was stationed on in England).

I would attempt clean it, at a certain point base legal is going to expect you to do something. One of my airman had his car egged at the dorms, so he took pics, called the Security Forces, but he didn't clean the car. Base legal told him they were sorry but at this point it is an inconvience, clean it up, and the weren't paying for the damage that he caused by letting it sit there. Good luck getting the base to pay for it, my car was a hit and run in front of my shop, and they didn't pay for it, they said that is what insurance is for. Hope it works out for you.

Try a clay bar if you can find one, if that doesn't work you can try denatured alchohol, if bug and tar remover doesn't work.

Damn, that's fucked. Was that in accordance with base policy, or did the people working the desk just not want to do their job?

Call the fire department and have them tow that piece of crap before it catches on fire. Seriously when I see cars like that I have the sudden urge to attempt to flip them over

My minds all over

Yes thanks for correcting me again. Security Forces...lol special forces. Well It was about 11 after they finally got here and everything closes around ten on this post and I went to the 24 hour gas station and they have nothing like that so I am pretty much fugged. I have work at 8 in the am so I really can't do shi till I'm off. And yes I am whinning but who wouldnt when you hand wash your car with a sponge and feel very proud when people break their necks looking at it or give you a thumbs up while blurting out "nice car". Oh well. Thanks for taking the time hear me rant and for giving me your input.

By looking at the 2nd pic, I'd think that it's been leaking like that for weeks. I see at least one other spot on the pavement that's already dried.

I agree, detail your car before that **** oxidizes your paint!

It was at Beale, and they had changed their policy on fixing cars on base, at least that's what they told me. The fucked up thing is my car was hit again in base housing while I was on leave, luckily the person who hit it called me. Call Bio/Enviromental, they will come and have the car towed, and the owner will be responsible for cleaning the mess it left, either that or they can be subject to non-judiciary punishment. You can't have cars leaking fuel on base, I am suprised it hasn't been reported sooner.

Try "Fantastic" kitchen cleaner. I've used it to remove both the brown/fuel/oily shmutz on my rear bumper after a track event, AND nasty Hawk Blue track brake pad dust.

You could also try bug & tar remover. Clay bar won't likely work that well.

I`ve used the bug and tar remover. Works real well. Just takes a little "elbow grease" but the stuff comes right off. I use 3M Sharpshooter floor cleaner out of a spray bottle for the brown/oily shmutz on the back bumper of one car here that doesn`t have a cat. The stuff just starts running once the Sharpshooter hits it. Cleans it off well. Rub a little with a sponge & hose it right off. I`m done.

Update!

So I have taken the suggested steps and tried to talk to "legal" and they said there was nothing they were gonna do and I should contact an attourney, I did and eventually had to fill out a statement and when my attourney asked for the patrolmans' report I went to acquire it and guess what? There was no report made. This was yesterday. Today while I'm getting ready to go to lunch from work a co-worker tells me there is some guy here for me regarding my car?? I was wondering who it could be and hoped it would be good. It was the neighbor with the box and he came to tell me after having his car towed to the auto shop it turns out there was a hole from corrosion and rust in his fuel tank and the gasoline mixed with the rust causing the stuck on damaging fluid on my car. He now wants to work something out with my insurance since his liability wont cover it. HA HA justice is served. Now I am trying to find the most efficient way to get my car painted nicely w/ the least amount of cost involved. The rims might have to take a loss unless I press charges but... thats not really me. Take that you beezy! Glad I didnt just keel over and roll with a two faced 7.

"Glad I didnt just keel over and roll with a two faced 7." hmm how to put this simply... I'm glad I did not give up and live on with an Rx7 with splattered tar stains on one side. But yeah they bullshi people when they claim to care and support the soldiers and their families.
