that's strange

it sounds like ur map sensor has reversed it's voltage...

reading 5V with no boost.. and 0V at full boost

what's the PFC say for Map sensor voltage?

have u tried initializing ur PFC?

I had the same issue. It was due to some shotty wiring that was shorting out.

I am having the same issue. The map sensor should always have 5V going into it correct? The output of the map is sensor is what should vary depening on the intake manifold pressure as I understand it.

My problem is intermittent. I drove my car 20 miles the other day and it ran like a champ. Parked it in the garage, came out the next day to take a long cruise and it would not start. The next day I tried starting it for the hell of it and it fired right up, I walked away and it died. Checked the commander and it read 1.2 bars. I verified 5V going into the sensor but I did not verify the return values at the PFC (was a bit lazy and had to push car around garage to get to PFC in kick panel). So, with this in mind, I am assuming I could possibly have a bad Map sensor which I hear is extremely rare.

I am probably going to get another one while I continue troubleshooting this one. My next plan is to get un-lazy and pull the kick panel and jiggle wires and check the return values. Any further advice that may help myself or mr.veilsidewankel is appreciated.

I am not trying to hijack this thread, it just seems like we have very similar issues.

uhm, ITS ALIVE!!! my new engine fired for the first time,
the problem with the map is to embarrassing,
forgot the last connector to the ECU, the blue one,
it was hidden behind some cables,
and i had a loose ground strap under the uim + fuel issues
when i got everithing right, it started right away,
and daaaamn, it felt soo goooood, after 8months
just as a side note, does porting make the exhaust louder?
because it sounds that way(the exhaust note is pure ****)

I just got my car running again a couple weeks ago (been down a year and couple months) and did the exact same thing, spent hours on it that night! When I finally found the connector it fired right up.

Porting will make the exhaust louder. Depending on the shape of the port it can be alot louder or just a little louder. Mine is huge and at idle and cruise just slightly louder than stock ports. Haven't opened it up yet as I am not tuned, but I would guess it will be much louder at full blast.

Someone post a pic of that loose ground strap. Maybe thats my problem. That could definitely cause intermittent problems.

it is a little ground strap under the uim, not hard to see(but easy to forget)

put 120miles on my new engine today, daaamn it is nice to drive a rotary again,
but i do think i need to resonate my midpipe after the porting, it is **** loud now
also im having big problems with bouncing idle, makes the car really hard to drive slow,
other than that, its a dream to drive, cant wait till the engine is broken in so i can get i tuned, something tells me that it will haul *** and make an insane amount of noise

Yes he has PFC and datalogit cable/system

Hoping to get my engine lowered today, and perhaps do a test start. Local car shop have bought computer equipment to manage the PFC, what are the things I should get them to do first (while driving the engine in)? At least get them to turn down the heat when the fans go on, but what else that I can't do from the PFC remote?

I realize how stupid that question was now. Anyway, here is a link that suggests idle learning. http://www.clubrx.org/media/pfc/PowerFC_FAQ.pdf It does not matter that you have a street port for these procedures. I am also street ported and they worked for me. The section you want is a couple of pages in.

hehe, let the retard(aka powerFC) idle for about 20 min today,
and what do you know, it finally started to learn the idle, its a little rough, but better than the mad bouncing.
cant wait to se if it remembers what i learned today when i start it tomorrow
